Oh MY! Your hubby is a patient man! I would have been so tempted to thrust the kid into his hand and tell him to deal with it, I wouldn’t have even noticed he was drunk! Gah! There are plenty of rude people, that’s for sure!

So it was for the first time we took our,at that time 18 month old daughter, on a long flight. The first couple of hours were okay, she played, ate, wondered around a little etc. but then it was her usual bed time and she just couldn’t calm herself down to fall asleep (to note that she is a great sleeper otherwise but she was just overstimulated). We tried everything, walking around, ipads, snacks, she just kept wining and fussing (not even loudly crying). At one point a gentlman (not sure why am I even using this word for him) came up to my husband and said that we have to stop that behavior immediately! I still laugh when I think of it but at the same time I’m still pissed! My husband looked at him, got up and said “you seem to be under alcohol influence, please back up from my family” (my husband is an addiction psychiatrist and he deals with ppl like this all the time and I’m sure it was the right thing to do instead of getting into an argument with him). Then he went to the crew and said this guy is drunk, he is bothering us pls make sure he doesn’t come again”. They tried to calm the guy down but he just kept bitching and finally went to his seat and put earplugs (duh!). After about 20 mins our little one crashed and she slept for several hours. people are just rude sometimes, nothing to be done about that.

I can imagine that was frustrating. Sounds like a great option other than a rude comment at the end. Maybe they could have offered to help instead of singling parents out.
