I always used to take the boys to hotel restaurants (could not help it if we were traveling and my partner came along – it was just easy and convenient) and found them to be very welcoming. By the way, those images of the food are making my mouth water.

We went to St. Andrews by the sea and had lunch at the Algonquin on their terrace, we mainly spent time in PEI and NS . We went to the lobster dinner in the basement of a church in PEI (St. Anne’s?). We had lunch at the Duncreigan Country Inn and they were the ones who brought our son out a toy to play with. many of the places we ate at are not around anymore.

Hi Shelley

Where in the Maritimes did you go? We visit Nova Scotia once a year usually and are planning a trip to Newfoundland this summer as well. Would love to hear about your favourite restos! Here’s a link to our East Coast write ups – Nova Scotia , PEI

You should consider going to the Maritimes for a holiday. We took our son on a trip there when he was 8 months old and every restaurant -whether fancy or not treated us like gold. Often they had toys or things to keep the kids amused. The wait staff if they were not too busy would carry our son around and have the rest of the staff check him out. It was amazing. Children are not a nuisance in the Maritimes.
