He has an older brother who he idolizes so he was easier to train than his older brother was. We gave him a Hot Wheels car for every poopie he made in the potty. He was trained within a week.

That was a great lesson and you shouldn’t feel bad about it. Try removing diapers completely as soon as there are some consistent results (like a couple of days with no dirty diapers), before you give him any reward. Hide them, so he won’t be able to even accidentally see the package. When diapers are still around, kids feel it’s an option. It worked for me, twice. Good luck!
