I know it can be a difficult process with some and other little ones train almost over night. I do belive that lots of encouragement and praise is essential. I do also think that treats and small gifts help the process too.

All children are different and train at different times,i give them praise and a pat on the back and tell them how proud i am for doing good not material things.

My little guy is potty trained during the day but he sleeps with a diaper (pull up) on at night. He has an older brother who he idolizes so he was easier to train than his older brother was. We gave him a Hot Wheels car for every poopie he made in the potty. He was trained within a week.

I don’t think doing anything different in the reward part would help. That was a great lesson and you shouldn’t feel bad about it. Try removing diapers completely as soon as there are some consistent results (like a couple of days with no dirty diapers), before you give him any reward. Hide them, so he won’t be able to even accidentally see the package. When diapers are still around, kids feel it’s an option. It worked for me, twice. Good luck!
