yes absolutely do it. My philosophy is to do whatever you want, when you want. We did Taj Mahal and india with a 2 month old and I have no regrets. My advice would be – go prepared for the dessert. Think about breastfeeding/formula, diapers but also the fact that you may want a tent with water. Upgrade for luxuries and get a private driver if possible. Do it your way and I bet you’re going to have amazing memories. Come back and let me know how it was – I’d love to hear your dessert with baby tips!!!

My husband I and our 6 month baby boy are going to Morocco for 15 days and have kept 3-4 day for the Sarah desert safari and really looking forward to it. Would you recommend it with such a small baby? If yes, what are some precautions, special preparations and recommendations I should keep in mind? Thank you so much!

Yes, check out Essaouira. We didn’t get there but it came very highly recommended. I’d just look into temperatures to ensure it works for what you’re expecting.

It seemed like a good combination of adventure and sunshine without Zika. We will be going with a one and a half year-old, and would like to be by the beach if it all possible. Any recommendations?

I think it’s doable as long as you take trains between the big cities and then hire a driver for the dessert trek. Plan for some car sickness for the kids (mine are fine in North America but struggled in Morocco because of the altitude changes so just something to think about). Where are you flying in and out of? We took 12 hours to drive it because we made the many stops along the way, it actually made it fun for the kids with the stops and they watched their ipads for the drive. You guys will have such an amazing time!

This sounds like such a lovely experience! We’re planning a trip to Morocco from Canada in October, and I really had my heart set on the Sahara, but I feel like it might be tough with a 18month old and 4 year old. Please let me know if you have any alternative suggestions for the 12 hour drive part.
We were thinking of visiting chefchoun, fes and Marrakech and the desert in a 14 day trip… Too ambituous?

Thanks so much!

I’m so glad you’re going!!! If you are travelling solo and have the means, I’d recommend hiring a private driver from a trust worthy source. The company we used is was amazing and the couple who owns it lives in the U.S but their family (brothers/sisters/cousins) run the operation in Morocco. The reason for that is so your son and can stop and see the dinosaurs and take breaks (especially if he gets car sick). I’d spend a day in Marrakech on both ends of your trip and knowing that the drive will take you a day in and a day out plus a day in the desert, save 3 or 4 days for your Sahara drive. Actually, are you going to Marrakech or starting in Fes?

Literally everyone has cautioned me against taking him because of the driving distances, but your blog post has given me hope that it is possible! We will only be in Morocco for seven days, so the only thing I’m really hoping to do is go to the Sahara with a plan to go back one day! Any advice for me as a mom with a young child?
