Blissful Toddler Sleep when Travelling

Travelling significantly both internationally, locally and even just late boozy nights at our friends’ pads means that we have accumulated a list of items that we MUST have for a blissful sleep. We’ve had no jet lag or sleep issues and for the most part I’d like to say that it’s in the genes because I’ve never been jet lagged in all my years of travel (38 countries and counting .. I think). However there’s a couple items that have really helped us adjust into a great nap and bedtime routine. During those first six months of her life, the Little Monkey would just plonk anywhere as long as she was swaddled, breastfed and soother-ed but as she grew and became more aware of her surrounding things started changing. We found the following items to give her comfort as it replicated her regular at home routine and surroundings. Whenever it’s time for a nap or bedtime we get her say bye to everyone and head to bed with her milk or water bottle in hand and just lay her down in her travel crib with her favourite items and CLOSE the door. Voila.. she’s all set.

BUN

Bun usually stays at home in the crib when we go out on a daily basis but when we travel or know that she needs to take a nap elsewhere we bring Bun along. He’s her trusty cuddle buddy and security blanket.

Blanket

Any soft blanket does the trick. She just loves having something soft to snuggle under.

Often we’re a rowdy bunch and it helps to drown our noise with the Relax M. HD app. iPad to the rescue once again

Phil&Teds Travel Crib

This phil&teds travel crib is really one our favourite items and the best purchase we’ve made. Sure it was pricey compared to other pack and plays and yes it takes a  five minutes to pitch this travel crib… but it’s light and travels really well as it’s a size of a yoga mat! As she’s getting older there is a fear that she might push herself over but she hasn’t done that yet. Additionally we always ensure that we set it up out of reach of any dangerous items and in a safe spot that if she was to push herself down no major harm would be done. From Mexico to Toronto weddings to late nights out, this crib is well travelled. As the chopping vine illustrates it’s easy to put together just watch out for tiny hands that always want to help setup as well!
