Food & Drink at home

We love to dine out but we’re also all about food and drink events, services and cooking at home. For the most part Yashy is in charge of the kitchen but as the kids get older, they too like getting in on the action. As a family of adventurous eaters, we try to bring the worldly cuisines to our Toronto kitchen.

The kids have been taught to try everything at least once and such, one loves oysters and foie gras and another is all about the shrimp and a connoisseur of lasagna. It has been a while since the baby feeding articles were written but we think you’ll find some solid recipes if you’re attempting to feed a toddler or start that foodie journey. Enjoying food and drink at home, teaches kids to appreciate various cuisines and how to behave when they’re at restaurants. Remember, enlisting the kids in cooking classes, definitely is a worthwhile investment!

Yashy loves playing with various kitchen gadgets and despite having a tiny kitchen, she owns a sous vide machine, an instant pot, an air fryer and a whack load of baking items. I mean how else would she make her Sri Lankan Ribbon Cakes and Sri Lankan Breudhers? Jujubes anyone?

Luckily you don’t need fancy gadgets to cook Moroccan meals (a dish we learned during our month long Moroccan travel with kids) or to prep those school lunches for kids. And if you’re looking for easy week day meals, Yashy has plenty of those.

If you love making cocktails at home, Yashy has picked up some great ones during her decade of working in the beverage alcohol industry and don’t worry, she suggests mocktails for the kids too! During these pandemic times, she even has suggestions on how to host distanced garden parties! Rainbow food to celebrate Pride? Check and check!

Yashy regularly shares the family’s nightly meals over on Instagram so give her a follow there too!
