Fashion Friday | No More School

Today marks the end of Little Monkey’s first full week of school and all that happiness and excitement from last week’s three day week has disappeared. After some probing we’ve discovered that she finds the bus ride and school day to be too long and that she misses us when she’s at school. All normal feelings for someone still shy of 4 years and up until today, she was happy enough to wake up and get ready within fifteens minutes and hop on the bus each morning.

Her teacher told us two days ago that she’s been a bit sad at school and I discovered that the main reason was because the other kids’ moms do the drop off and pick up from school vs. me putting her on the bus. “That makes me upset and sad” I was informed. So I gave her a passport sized picture of myself for her wallet yesterday and the hubs promised her he’d pick her up from school. The picture along with a chat that we don’t have a car because we are saving that money for our holidays (which she loves) seems to have helped. We also told her the pick up from school was a one time deal and made the poor child walk home the WHOLE way. That thirty minute walk in the sun wasn’t fun and we’re hoping she remembers that the bus is a better option.

Today was a tough one. We had a wild goose chase around the condo to get her dressed and she cried from home to the bus stop. I bribed her with a Princess and candy for breakfast but I don’t think any of that will help much today. We know this will all pass, but for now…we have tears. Today’s Fashion Friday post features today’s school uniform ensemble. We’ve been experimenting with various white and blue options (school uniform guidelines) and are trying to stay a bit fun and fashionable within the guidelines. We’ve tried embroidered dresses and sparkly sweaters and there’s been no complains thus far. Wonder if today’s sequinned shirt will get us in trouble….also, I get the Perfect Princess irony. Let’s roll with it.
