Flying Porter Airlines with Young Kids

IMG_20140626_124533 (Custom)The hubs and I love flying with Porter Airlines because it really is a civilized way for us to travel. Location can’t be beat as we live in downtown Toronto and it’s such a breeze taking the TTC or cab over. With kids we now cab it each and every time and even with the current construction it was easy to get in to. These guys also have some pretty good sales so you can definitely find some deals that won’t hurt your wallet too much. This past weekend we flew out of Toronto’s downtown airport with a baby and toddler, stress free. From the ferry ride to the lovely check-in staff, we had no issues and all smiles.

IMG_20140626_135937The Toronto airport has a lovely lounge which is a great way to enjoy their amazing cappuccinos and a biscuit whilst we wait for the pre-boarding. Yes you can sneak a diaper change too as there’s a change table in the bathroom. And yes they do pre-board those with small kids. I love that! You can gate check your stroller and pick it up on landing. Also don’t forget that you get a meal on board on the longer flights and everyone of legal drinking age gets FREE wine and beer!

Forget diaper changes, trying to maneuver Little Monkey for her peeing and pooping session was NOT fun. I did manage though, so obviously it’s do-able. Luckily Baby Boy didn’t need a diaper change but I do recall doing a lap change when the Little Monkey was much younger. On this flight the air hostess came by and told us we could do a diaper change on the floor by the washroom if we’d like, nice to offer! She also brought out some extra plastic bags for us to toss diapers into (luckily I always fly with my diaper genie odor eliminating bags!).

Baby Boy was great on the flight but it was Little Monkey who needed the extra TLC. Constant entertainment kept her fairly satisfied along with plenty of snacks. Cabin pressure affected her very badly on this trip and no lollipops could sort the problem for us. So a bit of crying took place and I plan to bring on Taffy for the next flight. Flying with Porter definitely put us all in a good mood as we headed out on #MurphysDoNS !

Sounds like my kind of airline! Amazing. I’ve never flown Porter. I hope to one day!

My husband and I have flown Porter to Newark 4 times and they are FAB! I would love to bring my baby boy and 4 year old son on Porter somewhere.

Thank you for sharing! This is great as I found there’s very limited to no information on their site about traveling with little ones, to aid in our upcoming flight.

    Cheers!
