Toronto Oktoberfest Ticket Giveaway! #TOKT15

kids and beer torontoFor the past few years the hubs has been brushing up on his German skills in the hopes that I will plan a trip to Germany and he’s been quite diligent spending most evening hours barking into his phone. Annoys me a fair bit but I know I shouldn’t discourage his learning, especially when it will get us through in Germany! There’s definitely no surprise as to why he wants to go to Germany…yes, the bier! Of course the bier! Oktoberfest is a popular German tradition that has spread far and wide with the second largest Oktoberfest in the world taking place in Kitchner, Ontario. While we’ve been making plans to attend that one, we haven’t been able to and I am thrilled to hear that Toronto has its own Oktoberfest! Yes folks, right in downtown Toronto and we’ve got 2 pairs of tickets to giveaway! and if you can’t wait to win  tickets, using the code Baby&Life5Off will get you $5 off each ticket!

Many people associate Oktoberfest with beer but this is actually a misconception. Traditionally Munich’s Oktoberfest is really a Volksfest ( “peoples’ festival” in German), which usually combines a beer or wine festival with a travelling funfair. Think amusement rides, games and food vendors with beer ! Sounds like fun eh? Oktoberfest is a family affair in Germany and as you know…we’re all about beer with the kids by our side. So I was thrilled to hear that Toronto Oktoberfest which takes place over two days will have an all ages session! YES!!!

Toronto OktoberfestToronto’s Oktoberfest will take place on the 18th and 19th of September at Ontario place. Saturday’s session kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and kids are invited to join their parents until 4:30 p.m. They’ve promised us that “guests will experience the best in Bavarian fare, German and European biers, entertainment, and an atmosphere so authentic, you’ll feel like you’re in Munich.” We’ll be taking Baby Boy and Little Monkey and I know many parents will enjoy attending the event. Since it takes place at Ontario Place’s east parking lot, there will be plenty of room for strollers, though I think baby wearing may be a better option if you plan to weave in and out of the stalls. TTC is recommended but having walked through that area, I think taking an UBER  may be your best bet.

Regular admission is $22 for the all ages session and there’s no in and out privileges. Bier tokens can be purchased on site with cash, credit or debit but food is cash only. So keep that in mind! I love that they are offering VIP tickets that include entry line bypass, access to an indoor/outdoor VIP Lounge with private bar (read less line ups!!), access to VIP dedicated washrooms (wohoo!! less pee on the ground for one to step around!), a Toronto Oktoberfest Alpine hat, and a Toronto Oktoberfest stein with two drink tickets (which will get you a full stein). VIP tickets are priced at $80 and I’d pay the extra just for the cleaner bathrooms! I also like they really thought about family and made it so that kids under 16 come in free!

It’s time to dig out the lederhosen and dirndls! Are you feeling lucky? Enter our contest to win one of two pairs of general admission tickets to the all ages session (11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) on Saturday September 16th!! You can also win tickets to Germany through this contest run through Toronto Oktoberfest.
