Finding the perfect tasting menu in Toronto isn’t always straightforward—especially when you’re dining with different dietary preferences.
Chris is a pescatarian who doesn’t eat meat and—brace yourself—doesn’t enjoy cheese. Not even the good stuff. Not the ooey gooey. Not the funky. Not the “this smells like a French basement but tastes like heaven” cheese. I know. We all have flaws. I, on the other hand, eat just about everything. So while we both genuinely love tasting menus, not every one works for us as a couple.
Many tasting menus that accommodate pescatarians lean heavily into cooked fish and vegetables. That’s great for Chris but I don’t want a night that feels like variations of the same dish, course after course. The tasting menus we love the most manage to feel balanced, intentional and exciting for both of us without compromise.
The Best Toronto Tasting Menus for Date Night

As the kids get older, we’re finally able to sneak out for more Toronto date nights than ever before. Just like I regularly update our list of favourite Toronto date night restaurants, I’ll be keeping this roundup of recommended tasting menus in Toronto current as we continue discovering and revisiting standout spots across the city.
Menus change, new restaurants open, and favourites evolve—so I hope you’ll check back every few months to see which Toronto tasting menus are topping our list in 2026 and beyond.
Here our are favourite date night restaurants in Toronto!
Tasting Menus in Toronto vs. Set Menus: What’s the Difference?
The terms are often used interchangeably, but there’s an important distinction.
Tasting menus are curated, multi-course experiences designed to showcase a chef’s creativity, seasonal ingredients and point of view. Courses are usually smaller, more intricate and meant to be enjoyed as a complete progression. The best tasting menus adapt seamlessly to dietary needs without losing their identity. These are the ones that leave a lasting impression on us.
Set menus (or prix fixe menus) typically offer a fixed number of courses with limited choices per course. They’re often used for special events or promotions and tend to be more structured and there are no surprises.
We dabble in both of these options when we can but I definitely love the element of surprise in most tasting menus in Toronto. We just make it a point to mention that we have some dietary restrictions when we make the reservation and then again in person before the meal begins.
How This List of Toronto Tasting Menus Is Curated
Just like our ever-evolving list of Toronto date night restaurants, this tasting menu roundup isn’t static. Toronto’s dining scene changes constantly. Menus shift with the seasons, chefs move on, concepts evolve. I’ll continue updating this list as we revisit favourites, discover new tasting menus worth the splurge or notice when something no longer hits the same.
If it’s here, it’s because:
It works for mixed dietary preferences
It feels intentional and well-executed
It’s memorable enough that we’d recommend it to friends (and go back ourselves)

JaBistro – Seasonal Tasting Menus
📍 Downtown Toronto-Entertainment District
Perfect for : Last minute bookings (we booked this tasting menu experience two hours before walking in) , budget friendly tasting menu experience and those short on time (whole experience took less than 1.5 hours)

JaBistro is one of those rare places that has stood the test of time. I’ve been saying I wanted to dine here since my days the corporate world and despite this Toronto restaurant being around since 2012, I only managed to experience their tasting menu in 2025! It was definitely worth the wait and if you’re a sushi lover like Chris and I, you definitely want to add this to your 2026 Toronto date night plans.
They seems to offer seasonable tasting menus with added elevated options and I found their price points to be quite reasonable as well. We opted for the $99 menu which had us quite full by the end and while we did see the $125 option being served to our neighbours, we were actually very pleased with our budget friendly decision.
We made our reservation via OpenTable and had the option to choose between sushi counter and regular table seating and you KNOW I opted for the sushi counter because I love watching the chefs at work. Obviously I snooped online to confirm that the counter stools had some back support because tasting menus can be along affair and our aging bodies need that back support!
Their seasonal tasting menus or “Seasonal Soirée” as they like to call it outlined the courses but didn’t tells us exactly what would be served. I liked that balance of structure and surprise. Our experience lasted about an hour and a half which was very impressive for a 5 course meal. The menu was refined, beautifully paced and deeply rooted in Japanese technique without feeling rigid or repetitive. For this one, Chris and I both had the same items because we both love raw fish. Also, Chris isn’t a dessert guy but the Lychee Sorbet with Sake Jelly was amazing because the various textures made it so fun for me. Obviously I loved it more than Chris but he still ate it all!
The JaBistro staff were attentive ( I was so impressed when they had whisked our coat check tags discretely at the end of our meal so that our jackets were ready just as we paid our bill) and they were happy to offer advice as needed. The menu here tells a story and although there’s no fancy show, the chefs are a delight to watch as they casually craft each piece with purpose. Nothing felt like a compromise and that’s exactly what we want from a tasting menu date night.
Ficoa – Tasting Menu Experience
📍 Little Italy, Toronto (make reservations ahead of your Toronto visit)
Perfect for : Those looking for a personalized experience that caters to all dietary needs

Ficoa’s tasting menu is bold, creative and incredibly satisfying especially if you appreciate big flavours and modern plating. This 9+ course tasting menu is also super budget friendly because it’s only $120! It is honestly such an affordable elevated option that’s worth raving about.
Chef Esau Garcia curated a menu of Latin flavours infused with innovative international techniques. This is an 9-course menu takes you through the diverse landscapes of Latin cuisine whilst highlighting local ingredients. You go in totally blind and in the end they give you a personalized printed menu to take home.
While Chris and I were able to enjoy most of the similar dishes there were courses where I got to enjoy succulent meat while he had cooked fish (which I don’t always love). This is one of those menus where we both felt fully catered to (hello, layered sauces and indulgent elements) also walked away happy and full. The balance between technique and tradition is spot on, and the pacing makes it feel like a proper night out rather than a rushed dinner. Quite a few of the courses also had an element of theatre in the presentation which I loved.
Chef Garcia comes to your table and walks you through each course and the servers here are incredibly knowledgeable too. They truly care about your experience and it shows!
Also, if you’re looking for mocktail pairing, I don’t know of another place doing it as well as they do it here. Honestly, get the mocktail pairing!!!

They even had a surprise 10th course for us but we were rushing to catch a show at the theatre down the street so they graciously boxed it up and held it for us to pick up after our show. This restaurant also had brunch and a la carte options but their tasting menu truly wow-ed us. Also, similar to the Michelin starred tasting courses we’ve experienced, most of the courses were placed simultaneously in front of Chris and I – I appreciate the little details, ya know?
If you’re looking for a tasting menu in Toronto that feels special without being overly precious, Ficoa is a standout.
BOSK at Shangri-La – Tasting Menu
📍 Shangri-La Toronto
Perfect for : Nights you want to dress up and feel fancy

BOSK is where we go when we want a luxury tasting menu experience in a swanky Toronto hotel. Chris and I have dined at BOSK in the Shangri La hotel on quite a few occasions and we’ve enjoyed their tasting menus and their seasonal set menus as well. Both continue to impress us. I didn’t see any tasting menu offerings in 2025 but on a recent visit I was told that Chef Joey is planning some for 2026, so keep an eye out!

Their tasting menu highlights Canadian ingredients with finesse and the kitchen is excellent at accommodating dietary preferences without stripping away flavour or intention. Chris gets beautifully executed pescatarian courses and I still get richness, texture and the kind of thoughtful details you expect from a hotel dining room done right. Add in the serene setting and polished service, and BOSK consistently delivers one of the most well-rounded tasting menu experiences in Toronto.
Richmond Station – Chef’s Tasting Menu
Location: Financial District
Perfect for : Celebrations

Richmond Station’s Tasting Menu is a Toronto classic for a reason. The menu changes frequently and highlights seasonal Ontario ingredients, with thoughtful execution and a strong sense of balance across courses. This restaurant has also stood the test of time and has been around for over 13 years. We actually took the entire Murphy clan here a few years ago and realized that they’re quite kid friendly! Of course that’s not the focus for this feature!
Priced at $115 INCLUDING tip, this 6 course tasting menu in Toronto is yet another budget friendly option. They switch the menu every couple of months but do let you know ahead of booking what most of the courses might be.
Dietary accommodations are handled seamlessly, making it a great option for mixed-diet diners. They offer vegetarian tasting menus but be sure to call ahead and inform them of your dietary needs.
This s the kind of restaurant we recommend confidently, whether it’s your first tasting menu experience or a go-to spot for celebrating something special.
If you love tasting menus but dine with someone whose preferences don’t always align with yours, these Toronto restaurants prove that you don’t have to settle. You can have creativity, flexibility, indulgence and balance on the same table.
And yes, Chris will still avoid the cheese course if he can… but I’ll happily take his portion
