Eating out with Baby | Bareburger Brunch

Bareburger kidsWhen Bareburger started showing signs of opening up in our neighbourhood I was curious. At the time all I knew was that they were a U.S chain with their very first Canadian store opening. Fast forward seven months and we’ve dined there a couple times and were recently invited to sample their brunch menu with Baby Boy and Little Monkey. Their brunch menu launched in June and I knew they’d be busy around noon so we avoided the rush by swing by at 11 a.m. for a quick bite before nap time.

IMG_9750 (Custom)Having been here before I knew exactly what to expect as far as the kids were concerned, smiles, high chairs and even change tables! The icing on the cake…. TV screens with cartoons (on mute). The space is decorated with traditional wood elements but then you get a pop of colour here and there which is quite ‘cool’. As we settled in and began perusing the menu, our server swung by to check in on us and mentioned that every brunch meal comes with juice AND endless coffee. Talk about a deal! He was also quick to get Baby Boy and Little Monkey’s orders as he knew they’d be antsy.

This time around I noticed that the kids received plastic cups with lids, which I was grateful for. Less work trying to satisfy Baby Boy’s demands for drinking out my straw! The hubs settled in with a large cup of coffee and happily ordered himself a Caesar as well. This my friends, is how you do a weekend brunch! The moment I took a sip of his cocktail I knew that Walters Caesars was one of the magic ingredients. When I inquired about it I was told that not only is their food menu organic, GMO (hormone and antibiotic) free and locally sourced, but their drinks menu is as well. Their cocktails feature local brands and their beer list had a great selection of some of our local faves, like Spearhead.

There were quite a few tempting dishes on the Brunch menu but the hubs and I both opted for French Toast. I got the Duck Duck version and he opted for the Fried Chicken. While I enjoyed mine, I LOVED his! The kids menu (Cubby) featured French Toast as well but they were in a fairly boring mood so we opted for scrambled eggs which came with Fruitwood Bacon and we also ordered a side of Maple Sausage ( they were delicious!).

Bareburger Toronto BrunchAs we dined a huge torrential downpour was happening and we gleefully watched the soaked pedestrians as we enjoyed our warm meals. What I love about Bare Burger is that they welcome families with open arms. I know many families who bring in their strollers and enjoy a meal with kids along for the meal. The drinks and food are not only delicious but you can feel good about what you put into the tiny bellies. As for your own belly, let’s not kid ourselves, there are some fatty, deep fried goodness that may not be healthy but it’s oh so delicious! We promised Little Monkey she’d get a treat if she finished her food and that she did. Chocolate Sammies rounded up our meal as we braved the rainstorm and headed home for a lazy Sunday chilling on the couch.
