Toronto is ready to welcome soccer fans from all over. I’m sharing our top recommendations whether you’re hitting the sports bars with your mates or trying to find family-friendly dining with the kids. Because we live in downtown Toronto and Chris works right by the stadium, we know this area well. Below is our curated list of favourite spots to eat and drink near BMO Field, plus a few places we’re hoping to try this summer. Just remember to book early because wait times will be long!

Restaurants, bars and patios near Toronto Stadium and FIFA Fan Festival

FIFA Toronto restaurants

When traveling into Toronto for FIFA World Cup 26™, I’m assuming you’re taking transit and hopping off at the Exhibition GO Station. (Trust me, I KNOW you don’t want to drive into that game day chaos!) Because of this, every spot on my list below is a 20-minute walk or less to Toronto Stadium. Depending on where you grab a bite, the King and Queen streetcars are also great options for getting around. Local tip: the King streetcar tends to come much more frequently than the Queen route, so that’s the one I always rely on.

Family-Friendly Restaurants Near BMO Field and Other Activities

I will mention really quickly that all the places I’ve recommended above will welcome kids  (especially before a FIFA game). If you want to tag on another experience before or after a game (depending on times) you can look at Medieval Times which is a 7 minute walk away. Local, Chiang Mai, BB.Q and OEB would be my best bets with kids if I HAD to narrow it down.

That said, I’d definitely ensure I have reservations if I was planning a sit down meal with kids. I don’t think I’d have the patience to wait for a table so we’d mostly likely opt for one of the grab and go, quick bites instead of a sit down because of all the sitting the kids would be doing at the game.

The Bentway is also a 15 minute walk away and is going  to have fun soccer themed activations during the FIFA World Cup in Toronto. If you’ve never heard of the Bentway, it’s a shared space under the highway in Toronto and many of us go skating there in the winter and rollerblading in the summer. There’s going to be art displays, street art, unique seating optons and hands-on activities so it’s a great way to burn some energy before or after catching a soccer game.

If want more ideas, you could start or end at the Harbourfront Centre which is a 45 minute walk. There’s always fun things happening in the Waterfront area!

Fancy Meal before FIFA

Lyla Toronto menu

  • Lyla: Okay, this one is about a 21-minute walk from Toronto Stadium, but I promise you it is absolutely worth it. If you want to escape the sea of soccer jerseys and step into a beautifully designed space with a fancy Mediterranean vibe and exceptional cocktails, this is the place to book. It makes our best Toronto date night restaurant list for a reason!

  • Nodo Liberty: A fantastic, lively Italian spot. The menu is heavily focused on pizza and pasta, making it a guaranteed win when you are trying to feed the family before a loud, chaotic match. 11 minute walk from the  Toronto soccer games.

HERE’S MY TORONTO TIPS !

Essential Tips for FIFA 2026 at Toronto Stadium

KIDS AT Toronto FIFA match

I’m just looking out for you so here’s some tips you most likely already know! Toronto is expecting over 300,000 visitors for the tournament  so pack your patience. If you haven’t made a reservation, you will need to wait in lines or rely on the quick grab-and-go spots! That said I’ve also heard that many nearby restaurants are opting for a first come first seated process during the soccer games.

  • Do Not Bring a Backpack (The Strict Bag Policy) Toronto Stadium has a very strict bag policy. You absolutely cannot bring backpacks inside. If you need to bring a bag, it must be a clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag (no larger than 12”x6”x12”), a one-gallon clear Ziploc bag, or a tiny clutch purse (smaller than 6.5”x4.5”). If you are dining in Liberty Village before the game, don’t show up with a giant tote bag, or you’ll be stuck paying for a locker outside Gate 3 or getting turned away!

  • Plan for Major Road Closures Do not try to drive to the stadium. During the tournament, the city is shutting down major sections of Lake Shore Boulevard West, Dufferin Street and Strachan Avenue for up to 10 hours on match days. Even rideshares like Uber and Lyft will have highly restricted drop-off zones. Stick to the GO Train (which is running extra trains every 15 minutes!) or the King/Queen streetcars.

  • Make Time for the FIFA Fan Festival™.  FIFA Fan Festival is taking place just down the road at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway. It’s an easy walk from Liberty Village and the Toronto Stadium, making it the perfect spot to keep the party going after you grab a post-game meal or a craft beer. Know that free tickets were available but locals grabbed them up real quick so you may only have ticketed options for last minute visits.

  • Download Your Tickets Early. Entry to Toronto Stadium is strictly via mobile tickets on the official FWC2026 app. Cell service can get notoriously spotty when 45,000 people are trying to use their phones at the same time in Exhibition Place, so download your tickets to your mobile wallet while you are still sipping your pre-game pint on the pub patio!

Have fun and if you visit any of my recommendations be sure to tag me on social because I’d love to hear your thoughts!!
