Festive Toronto Lights

toronto festive lights, toronto lights, christmas lights, It’s most definitely the season for the festive decor throughout the city no matter where you live and all you need to do is hop on Instagram and check out the #Christmas hashtag to see a stream of fabulous (and some not so fabulous) photos. Here in Toronto there’s been plenty of holiday lights and cheer (check out the #OnShinesBright stream!!) throughout the city and we’ve done our very best to pop by some of the many events. For today’s post here’s a round up of some of our favourites! It’s been a while but I’m swinging by the #IGTravelThursday blogs to check out what fellow Instagram travelers are up to !

This first collage is from our Tree Lighting Ceremony in downtown Toronto…it was the 47th annual Cavalcade of Lights and as always it’s a fun but crowded affair. Live acts and fireworks accompany the lighting of this very central tree at Nathan Philips Square.

The skating rink I’ve mentioned previously is also decked out for the winter season with twinkling lights and lover holding hand in hand but what I truly love is that in right next to the Christmas tree is a Menorah. It truly represents the multicultural aspect of this fair city.

The Lowes Christmas Market is our version of the European Christmas Markets with Biergartens, Mulled Wine, Vendors and ofcourse Santa!

Yonge Dundas Square is another central hub for us Torontonians and is our version of New York’s Time Square. Each year we have the same displays here and we keep swinging by for pictures year after year.

Who can resist a chocolate tree? Not I! This was a marketing blitz for the holiday season by Ferero Rocher and was also at Younge Dundas Square.. I for one loved it because they were handing out free chocolate at every street corner which meant that the toddler was entertained whilst I shopped!

I couldn’t resist snapping a picture of this unconventional tree in our financial district…gorgeous isn’t it?

Wow, all those Christmas lights look amazing! Living in a small place means we have nothing alike, although the holiday season is very beautiful here in a different way. But have to say, I wouldn’t mind to have a piece of that chocolate tree!!

One of the many things I love about Toronto .. or Canada in general is the ability to experience all four seasons!!

I know I am looking at an older post, but I love Christmas and Christmas lights. I was just in Banff last weekend and went into the Christmas store, always magical! I would love to visit Toronto one day and looking at these pics I think Christmas would be an amazing time to visit Toronto!
