JUST EAT!

I’m finally getting my cooking groove back but there’s plenty of days when I just want to eat out. Okay… like every day! Except that some days I just want to lay in my pjs, not cook and still get fed. Know those days? Since Baby Boy’s arrival we’ve had quite a few busy days that have had me wiped by the end of the day and we’ve had to order take out on numerous occasions. Yet we constantly battle with where to order from  – it ends up being pizza or thai from Salad King (who sadly don’t deliver) just because we can’t think of anything else. That’s when my brother introduced me to JUST EAT about a year and a half ago. I didn’t trust these delivery sites but he quickly changed my mind.

just eatWhile we still do tend to order quite a bit of pizza and Salad King we find ourselves on JUST EAT on nights when we want something out of the usual repertoire but don’t know where to order from. I was quite satisfied with the online portal though my main challenge was that I would easily spend an hour perusing to figure out what works best for us. I considered it my own little time out but seriously, who has time for that?

Then out of the blue last month JUST EAT reached out and asked if I would review their newly launched JUST EAT App. SURE! I’m a fan of apps that’s foshure and it’s easier to browse on my phone with a whiny Baby Boy than it is on my laptop. As you may recall we had to move in and out of our home in March and ofcourse we ordered in on quite a few of those nights when we were packing and unpacking. That’s when I first gave the app a go. HOLY! So much easier and my favourite feature is that once you put your postal code in, the app is very easy to manoeuvre. Just like the webportal the app highlights current deals that are happening. I loved that because it made my decision process easier though I wish I didn’t have to click through to find out what the exact offer is. The app was an easy way to order because all I had to do was pass the phone along to everyone and they placed their own orders. Voila! Done. If you’re an Android or Apple user you’ll definitely want to check out their app. It was made with busy people with only a thumb to spare in mind! Also….you can tip through the app. No more fubbling to figure out the math at the door.

Disclaimer : I received JUST EAT credit to facilitate the review, but as always, all opinions are totally mine!

IMG_20140313_221009Over the year I’ve looked at other delivery sites but keep coming back to JUST EAT because they seem to have the cheapest prices (for the same dishes at the same restaurants) and the restaurants seem to deliver on time. I now don’t bother comparing prices at all and assume that still holds true! We’ve had hits and we’ve had misses and I’ve come to not  trust most of the restaurant reviews on the site but at the end of the day, I like JUST EAT because it encourages me to randomly try out a new spot. We do tend to defer to Chinese or Thai for our takeout sessions but I’m going to make it a goal to order in more Sushi and Indian! Luckily we live in the downtown core and there’s plenty of options when it comes to the various cuisines. I’m not sure how good the spread might be in the suburbs.

What’s your go-to takeout meal? Do you experiment?
