Eating Out With Baby | Kirei Sushi + Bar

kirei sushi + bar, Kirei TorontoWe’re sushi fans. Like HUGE fans. Can’t get enough maki and sashmi in our life really and so when my brother suggested that we try Kirei Sushi + Bar for my dad’s birthday, we were all up for it. We were a fairly large group ( 6 adults and 2 kids) and we decided on an impromptu visit one cold evening after visiting the Toronto Christmas Market. A quick call was made to ensure that they could accommodate us and sure enough the space was fairly empty when we walked in around 6 p.m. on the Saturday.

My brother had been here before so he asked if we could get one of the rooms at the back and they were happy to let us dine in the private cabana like room. We removed our shoes outside and walked into the room which had sunken seats. It was the most bizzare thing but I truly loved it. There was also plenty of floor space for Little Monkey to pull out her princesses and play with her toys while we figured out what to get. If you have kids, I think these rooms are great, they aren’t noise proof but they do give a bit of privacy and lots of space for the little ones.We were hoping Baby Boy would nap so we kept him in the stroller for our entire meal, and while he didn’t sleep, he stayed in the stroller quiet as a mouse. The stroller was just outside our room, next to our shoes and we were able to see him without any issues.

The sashimi was fantastic here and they had many rolls on offer. Some were ah-mazing and most were very good. We had a few misses but given the amount of food we ordered, we were thoroughly pleased. We even got Little Monkey to lick a piece of sashimi…she didn’t eat it but it’s a start. She enjoyed her usual faves though – edamame, maki, calamari and miso soup. My favourite roll was the Kamikazi and the Rock N Roll.

Remember how we removed our shoes to enter the private room? When I had to go to the washroom they had wooden slippers for us to use ( I had my socks on, don’t you worry!) so that we didn’t have to fumble with our boots. How fab is that? Kirei Sushi is a bit off the beaten path, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a sushi fan. They have great lunch deals I’ve been told, but their makis and sashmi for dinner is what has us wanting to return.
