Time to show off those Curves Toronto

This is by no means a paid endorsement (but how I wish it was!). Couple months ago I told you guys about the  kick in my gut. Well it didn’t last long… my gut still hangs. I was doing well for a month or two but as soon as the Little Monkey stopped taking that 10 a.m nap in came an excuse for me not to go to the gym. It’s now been over two months since I last broke a real sweat (hot days don’t count!). During my working days I was on a schedule and made it to the gym more often than not, but post pregnancy working out has been quite difficult (laziness coupled with many lunch and coffee dates).

Recently there was a deal that I though was pretty good, $15 for a month long membership at Curves. I’ve been meaning to test them out for a while since there’s one just across the street from me. That said my gym is in my building and I didn’t get to it! So let’s see how long this lasts..hopefully a  month atleast. I love the concept of a 30 minute circuit with only a 30 second stint at each machine coupled with a 30 second moving ‘break’. My attention span at the gym hardly ever lasts longer than 30 minutes and while I don’t like being bossed around, at the gym I love  it. Hence Curves seems like a good option as there’s a recording tell you to switch through each machine and there’s an instructor on duty. Bonus… it’s women only. I kinda like that…no sweaty grunting men.

Today was my first day, the initial consultation included a game plan (mainly goals versus current status quo) and a thorough walk through all the machines in the circuit. You’ll be impressed to know that not only did I go for the consultation at 7 a.m. but I went back and did a full circuit at 10 a.m. Go me! Mind you it took me 40 mins to do the entire circuit which includes 6 warm up exercises, a full circle around all the machines, 6 cool down exercises and a stretching regime. It’s the stretching that stalled me a bit as I forgot most of them and had to read through the instructions posted on the wall. The instructor was busy with another consultation. I assume lots of  people bought into the deal so they will be busy in the short term. Another plus is the fact that there’s a video loop showing how to use the machines …great for lazy people like me.

This girl currently weighs 169.5 pounds (okay now…..hush!) and I don’t remember  the details of my BMI but I do need to move down about 5 points. So my goal is to be at 155 pounds…probably not within a month but in the very near future most definitely. I’ll keep you posted on how I’m doing and how my curves are doing at Curves.  Hopefully they’ll start peaking out soon.

Anyone a fan of Curves?
