BiLLe’s Celeb Charity Challenge: Jessica Simpson & Operation Smile

As most of you know,  I am participating in the BiLLe Blogger Contest where the winner will have the chance of winning  a  100,000 Euro contract to be BiLLe’s bloggers for the next year (AWESOME! I know!). This ‘contest’ really is similar to an interview process as they assign tasks for each round, eliminating candidates as the rounds progress.  Thanks to all of you I secured the no1. spot on the voting round (skill : popularity, ability to rally the masses, having good people on your side). Well we’re now on round 2 and the task is to nominate a celebrity for t he BiLLe Celeb  Charity Challenge (skill: writing style, insight into charitable focus). The BiLLe Lotto is a global online lottery that rewards up to one billion Euros and 42 secondary jackpots of up to 10 million Euros weekly. I do suggest  checking them out, it’ll be worth your while! Even if you’re not ready to participate in the Lotto, nominate or vote for a celebrity…you might even get  the chance to meet them!

 Here’s what I submitted for Round 2!

Charity, Children and a Ditzy Gal

Don’t lie! You’re wondering if I’m crazy for choosing Jessica Simpson from all the celebrities with charitable hearts. Right? After all, this girl doesn’t know chicken from tuna, what good can she really be up to? Let me tell you…she has battled through life in front of our eyes. We’ve witnessed her naivety, combat sessions with her parents, courtship with many a suitor, first heartbreak, and now, we watch her tackle motherhood. Take away the celebrity status, the daisy dukes and does she not remind you of many a friend in your own circle? Hey, I have my ditzy moments too! Ain’t no shame in that! Her ability to navigate through the fiendish media attention, fail in front of millions, rise up and still sail through life with a smile on her face and a laid back attitude – all in 6 inch heels – is truly remarkable!

Growing up in South Asia, I have witnessed children suffering on a daily basis, and while we unfortunately cannot nurture and educate every single child facing misfortune, we can definitely try! My favourite part of being a mom is that I bask in my Little Monkey’s contagious smile every single day. The thought of children going through life unable to smile, melts my cold, cold heart. Operation Smile, is a charity that provides safe and effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft. The sad fact (according to Operation Smile) is that every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft and while it only costs $250 and 45 minutes to fix this issue, many are unable to afford this surgery.

Going through life with acleft cannot be easy, a lifetime of ridicule and social ostracism lies ahead. Even getting a job may be tough. These reasons, along with my own vanity, would definitely prompt me to rectify the situation, if it were to arise in my circle. Any guesses on who has been Operation Smile’s International Youth Ambassador for the past 9 years? Yup! Jessica “sorry I don’t eat buffalo” Simpson! She doesn’t just throw some chump change towards this great cause, no, she donates her time, dons scrubs, goes into  the operating room, and then helps nurture and coddle the recovering children.

I’ve nominated Jessica Simpson and her charitable cause for the BiLLe Celeb Charity Challenge because I identify with her passage through life, she makes me laugh and most importantly she is a mom on a mission to bring smiles to many an unfortunate child. The BiLLe Celeb Charity Challenge is part of the global BiLLe Lottery, where 10 percent of total sales are allocated to The BiLLe’s Charity Pool (we’re talking up to 300,000,000 Euros each week!). How often do you hear of lotteries with a charitable component? Go on! Check out The BiLLe (let’s travel if you win!), and why not vote for Jessica Simpson in the Celeb Charity Challenge? It sure would be great to donate to Operation Smile!
