Baby Boy had his head shaved when he was two months old and then we just let it grow….he had the cutest little soft curls and I didn’t have the heart to chop them off. Luckily the hubs wasn’t opposed to the long hair and so I trimmed it here and there myself …until yesterday. He’s now two and his hair was getting to be a holy mess and so yesterday after work, I decided on an impromptu trip to the salon.
I took him to the same spot that we took Little Monkey to for her first cut and I was so happy to see the same lady there! She’s way better than anyone else I’ve had there since. Unlike with Little Monkey, I did nothing to prep Baby Boy. I simply asked him ” Want your hair cut” to which he replied “Yes” and off we went!
As I was crossing the street I quickly googled “boys haircuts” and found the generic shaved sides and mini mowhawk look which I showed the hairdresser and that was really it. Baby Boy did not cry..at all. We were all quite shocked. He sat on my lap and I was draped in the usual salon sheet while he had a towel on his shoulders. She worked her magic pointing out the street cars and making it rain (water spray) and gave him a lollipop which he guarded with all his might. Fifteen minutes and we were done!
He looks like a new a kid and I can’t stop staring at him. Quite the drastic change eh? I can’t wait to style it and let it grow again. I wonder if the curls will return?

My boys both screamed bloody murder the first time we had their hair cut; and being South Asian (Indian), they both had A LOT of hair to get through. Outside their first shaving as newborn infants, they had never had a hair cut until they were almost a year old.
