With the holiday season upon us we have been talking a lot about hot toys and pressies but it is also the perfect time for a talk about giving. Which is why I’m thrilled to be sharing an initiative by UNICEF Canada which gives us the chance to start a discussion about the importance of giving-back during the holidays and beyond. Don’t worry there’s a giveaway here too, thanks to generosity of Hallmark!
Having grown up in a few of the ‘ Third World Countries ‘ I’ve seen first hand how the little things can have a big impact on a child’s life. I often encourage friends to take pencils and stationery during their travels to share with street kids. We may not all be able to travel and witness this first hand but we can help bring a bit of cheer to those less fortunate than us. UNICEF’s Survival- Gifts offers the chance for us to help a child go to school, drink clean water or get the medicine and nutrition they need. Sadly 18,000 children die every DAY from preventable causes and with a Survival Gift YOU can save a child’s life. As a wedding gift one of the hub’s friend bought water for a village and we LOVED the idea. Instead of stocking stuffers why not spend some time with your kids and show them how a part of their present helped save another child?
While I’d love for you to help a child out with a Survival Gift this year I do also have a Hallmark gift basket available for one Canadian reader. The basket contains a Baby’s 1st ornament (silver bell), a Handprint kit ornament, a Disney Snow Globe, a White plush bear,a Holiday instant scrapbook kit and a Rudolph Recordable Storybook. Enter through the Rafflecopter below!
