Another New Journey

Last night we arrived back in Toronto after our weekend getaway in Brussels and we have lots of stories to share. I like to jump into things and there’s some changes brewing on this end. I have some news to share. Remember this post from when I went back to work after my mat leave? And how about this post when I decided it was time to explore something new? Well..today, I head back to the corporate world.

After a two year hiatus where I was my own boss (well Little Monkey and Baby Boy were technically my bosses I guess), waking when I wanted to (or when the little ones told me to) and calling my own hours, I head back to the grind. I’ve missed some aspects of the corporate world and an opportunity came knocking just when I was starting to get an itch to try something different. So today, I head back to the same company that I worked at for nearly five years but in a very different capacity. It’s just a one year contract role through an external agency and I have found a role and team with the right balance I need and desire. Atleast, this is what it seems on paper. What the future holds, I know not but there’s only one way to find out.

It’s going to be a bit of experiment as I try to balance my social media consulting, travel writing and blogging roles in between the full time day job and the whole parenting thing. Clearly I like to torture myself 😉 Luckily we have an awesome ‘nanny’ who is an aunt of mine and Little Monkey and Baby Boy have already warmed up to her. So that’s one less thing for me to worry about. My house is also much cleaner than it ever was! Blog posts in the new year may take a slightly new twist where the hubs may be joining in on the fun but that’s still just a ‘maybe’. Not to worry though, our Gift Guide is still going strong and you can definitely expect a few goodies your way before the holiday, if you’re lucky ;).

For now.. wish me luck. I have my trusty blue mug, a new notebook and hopes of buying a new pink rug to decorate my work space as I head out this morning. It’s like the first day of school.
