Toddler Assisted Christmas Decorations

I love love love Christmas and putting up the tree is much anticipated in the days leading up to the holidays. Since we’re in a tiny condo there isn’t much space for decor but the tree is up and we didn’t even need to put a gate around it! The Little Monkey is totally being good..so far! This year I thought we’d make our own ornaments for the very first time. I know…. me.. crafty? SERIOUSLY!

Disclosure : I have received compensation for this post but as always all opinions are totally mine!

If you spend any time on Pinterest you’ve seen some really cute ideas for getting the kids involved with the decorating…my favourite are the foot and hand print ones. So darn adorable! It was big tricky getting Baby Boy’s foot print but we did the best we could!

Check out what the Little Monkey and I made! We found the recipe to make these cute ornaments through the McCormick site! The Little Monkey loved the whole process except for the waiting period between baking and decorating the tree. What I loved was that things didn’t even get messy and she insisted that we use her toys as cutters. So be it!

To makes 12 to 15 ornaments mix 3/4 cups of applesauce with a bottle of McCormick Ground Cinnamon in small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed. Roll dough to 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap and cut dough into desired shapes. Transfer it to a baking sheet and then make a hole with a straw. Place baking sheet with the ornaments into a preheated oven (200 F). Bake for about two hours and let the ornaments cool. Insert ribbon through the holes and voila! You’re done.. and the house smells amaaaaazing! You can always have fun decorating these with some icing or markers but don’t be temped to taste them ( yes I did it!! VERY VERY cinnamoney)! They also make cute gifts this holiday season!

Happy decorating! How do you get your kids involved in decorating?
