Eating out with baby – Estiatorio VOLOS

IMG_20130716_204015IMG_20130716_194302This was one of those spots that we’d been meaning to check out for a good while now. Especially since my brother loved it when he visited ages ago! A merry group of us visited Estiatorio VOLOS for a birthday celebration and ofcourse they were baby friendly! Contemporary Greek Cuisine is what you’ll find here, devoid of any of the cliches that are usually conjured when you think of Greek food. Modern twists on traditional Greek dishes and Greek twists on local Canadian ingredients gives birth to a quality dining experience.

Since we were a group of 6 adults and a baby we scored a table by the window which meant a mini light show as the sun set. See there is some good in living in a concrete jungle! While they did have a high chair, the Little Monkey wanted to sit by her uncle booth side, which worked out well for us until she decided to make her rounds visiting each of her grandparents! No change tables in the washrooms but if you’re in a bind you can easily change a little one with an additional pair of hands to help!

Given that it was SummerLicious we made full use of the fantastic offers and also ordered some a la carte as well. Take a look at the video if you’re looking for some food porn. The Little Monkey enjoyed the Salmon and my virgin cocktail. All dishes were fresh with locally sourced ingredients and I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed every dish …with the exception of the Baklava. I like my less dense Lebanese Baklavas more so than the Greek versions.

All in all a great spot for some contemporary Greek cuisine when you’re looking for a bit of an upscale environment versus the every day offerings on Danforth. I also like that this spot is within the downtown core and is perfect for date nights, family sessions or corporate entertaining as the space is relatively large and you can easily find a spot that suits your mood.
