Making time to lose it

It’s starting to get super busy on my end, between looking after the Little Monkey, tending to household chores, the blog, being a Dishcrawl Ambassador and the event reporter for Masalamommas, it’s easy for me to push the gym routine. However I’ve made it a priority because there’s no one to blame for me weighing more now than right after the pregnancy! The challenge is that I’m a part of such a great foodie community that whatever I burn off I easily pile back on. It’s time to think of a better strategy towards eating and losing it!

I started a routine where I hit the Downtown Curves thrice a week and then run for about 20 minutes twice a week. It’s actually helped me quite a bit…check out the numbers!

I’m struggling with the motivation once I’m at Curves, as with many things in life you get into a routine and forget to keep exerting and pushing yourself to reach the next stage. As a result I truly believe that I’m plateauing with my Curves workouts. Good news for me is that Curves is installing a little gizmo that’s going to signal if I’m not working hard enough! I love it, just the whip I need. Stay tuned for my battle with the gizmo.

Speaking of being busy, this week I had some wonderful foodie opportunities. I was invited to celebrate all things Swedish at a private dinner hosted by the Swedish Consulate at the Boiler House where chef Erik Brännström was flown in just to impress us with his culinary skills. Between the artic char appetizer, the venison main and the lingonberry ice cream, my hips and taste buds were in heaven. Random fact, the chef had Sri Lankan roots but was adopted when he was very young and moved to Sweden! Lovely story huh?Another awesome discovery that night was Salming underwear… holy was that ever soft! The Swedes know what they’re doing when it comes to design and comfort… Christmas shopping list must have.

And to think, just the night before the Swedish dinner I was at Eat to the Beat where I sampled dishes from 60 female chefs! Yup… I ate way too much but it was not gluttony, instead it was for the sake of an honest review. How could I share my best finds with Masalamommas if I did not sample each and every dish? The things I do for my readers 😉 Stay tuned for my review on Masalamommas. All I’ll say for now is that Eat to the Beat is a great event in support of  the wonderful Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada, a not-for-profit organization that offers free peer support to anyone coping with breast cancer.

So you see… amidst all the foodie events I choose to be at, life’s priorities and soon to be a full time job (I have just a little over a week of freedom left!), it’s going to be even tougher to sneak in the workout sessions, but if my old wardrobe is to see the light of day, I have no choice! I can’t wait to start Bikram again but that will have to wait till the new year!
