A couple weeks ago, I was at the launch of the new Shoppers Drug Mart app, learning all about the wonderful things happening at one of Canada’s leading full-service retail drug stores. If you live in downtown Toronto you’re probably walking into a “Shoppers” on a near weekly basis. If you’re like the hubs, you’re there at least once a month, grabbing one item or another (especially baby items when they go on sale!). In our household, he’s the one who runs all the Shoppers errands because we are lazy and only have one Optimum loyalty card (you know how I love collecting my points!). Yes, we could have ordered another one, and we did, but I lost that one too. You see, I’m not so great when it comes to carrying physical cards. My wallet is way too heavy with the many loyalty cards I accumulate.

At the event, we not only learned about how Shoppers Optimum is elevating its game with the My Optimum. My Rewards. program but also about the current mobile trends. As you well know, both my kids are always on my phone or tablet. Bad enough that the hubs and I each have TWO phones on top of the laptop, desktop AND tablet we EACH own. Any guesses what our kids are always asking for? You got it. Phone and tablet. Today’s digital kids are far ahead of the curve and watching over Little Monkey as she flips from one YouTube video to another, into a LeapFrog app and then back to her videos, I’m amazed. Yes yes…too much screen time is bad and you can read our thoughts on that here. It should come as no surprise that over 38% of kids under the age of two use smartphones!
My Optimum. My Rewards. brings a new personalized digital experience to the Shoppers customer. There are a couple items that we get from Shoppers – our prescriptions, select baby products when they go on sale and our vitamins and health items. One reason we head to Shoppers is because there are three stores within a five minute walk from us and one of them is open 24 hours a day! Late night snack cravings can also be satisfied here!
There are a couple features I really like with the My Optimum. My Rewards. app
- First of all, it’s an app. No more cards! I always have my phone on me, so no points lost when you walk in on an impulse.
- Personalized flyers are available in the app and the offers are based on OUR shopping preferences.
- View and load offers from your phone or the new Optimum website. We simply select the ones we want and it’s there when I check out at the store.
- Redeem points towards purchases all with a simple tap.
If you live in Canada, I bet you’re near a Shoppers Drug Mart store, and whether you shop there often or on occasion, there’s no need to miss out on collecting free points. Ditch the card and get the new upgraded app! I collect points any way I can because it all leads to savings which eventually leads to a bigger travel budget for me!
