Snuza Go! Baby Movement Monitor Review and Giveaway

IMG_20140716_025412 (Custom)I don’t know about you but I’m super paranoid and each night before I go to bed I check in to confirm that Baby Boy is still breathing. I don’t check in on the Little Monkey anymore but I definitely did during her first ten months. Clearly it wasn’t a first child syndrome as I’m continuing the paranoia with version 2.0! A few days ago we moved Baby Boy out of our room and in with the Little Monkey (YES! We did it!! More on that another day) and I no longer can run my finger by his nose. Luckily for us PTPA had just sent us the Snuza Go! Baby Movement Monitor to review.

Disclosure: I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Snuza and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog, as always, are totally mine!

IMG_20140713_160036 (Custom)Trust me, I didn’t think I’d use it when I first received it…because you know. I’m not paranoid like that. HAH! The first night we moved Baby Boy he slept the entire day away, which would be have worrisome if it weren’t for the fact that I had clipped the Snuza Go! on his diaper right before his morning nap. I expected him to whine once I put him down for his nap because I KNEW it would be uncomfortable for a kid who sleeps on his stomach. I was WRONG. He slept soundly and way longer than usual. I would have run in to check if he was breathing had it not been for the Snuza Go! The ultra-sensitive flexible tip detects even the slightest movement and will alert you if movement is weak or falls to less than 8 movements per minute. You can also adjust the settings to alert you if no movement is detected at 20 , 18 or 15 seconds.

IMG_20140713_155929 (Custom)The monitor is tiny… I’m talking the size of a large egg! It’s clearly comfortable once clipped on (yes even on an 8 month old) and while you never want to hear the dreadful beep it would give out in case a little one stops moving…I decided to test it out by placing it on a doll. It’s loud. Think carbon monoxide alarm battery dying loud. I was skeptical if I’d hear the monitor go off if I was sleeping in another room but with that kind of noise… your neighbour might hear it too. Another important feature for me is that there’s no danger of radio frequency radiation with the Snuza Go! as there’s none involved. One thing to note is that while infants should lie on their backs to sleep, if they do sleep on their tummy, you have to position the Snuza a little or to the left/right so that the tip can easily detect the stomach rise and fall versus being flat against the mattress and giving off false alarms. We’ve used it for about four days now and I’m yet to experience a false alarm ( thank goodness! Would freak me out!). Battery life is said to be about a year but I cannot speak to that just yet, however they are replaceable and under ten bucks (you can order online!).

The Snuza Go! is compact which makes it easy to travel with and I can definitely see how the Snuza Go! would be an awesome gadget for the first few months. So here’s your chance to win yourself one! This contest is open to those residing in North America. Good luck!!

Yes! Unless he was right next to me I had a hard time. Even at night I would wake up just to check to him and make sure he was breathing and everything was fine.

I wasn’t sure if they’d be able to sleep on the stomache.. that’s good to know. Both my kids slept on their stomache and with #3 on the way we wanted to upgrade our Angel Care one. This looks great for travel so we may have found our winner! Fingers crossed we win this!
