Best Date Night Restaurants and Bars in Toronto (2025 Guide)

Chris and I really do enjoy our Toronto date nights and now that the kids are older, we get to sneak out to date night restaurants more often! If you’re  looking for the best Toronto restaurants for date night, I’ve got some options for you but I would like to clarify a few things first. We used to take our kids to fancy places frequently but now that they’re grungy tweens who don’t want to swap out of their joggers, we leave them at home when we hit up the fancy spots so most of the date night restaurant suggestions are places that offer fantastic dining experiences in Toronto but truth be told, if you have a kid who appreciates the fancy life, these spots would welcome them! I tend to visit the date night bars in Toronto at night so those are definitely adult-only!

Romantic & Refined Toronto Restaurants for a Memorable Date Night Meal

Check out these Toronto restaurants for your next date night in the city if you’re looking for an impeccable meal that’s guaranteed to delight your taste buds. These are date night worthy restaurants we’ve dined at and left satisfied with a smile on our faces.

Kiin – Entertainment District

They offer a variety of menu options and the set menu is one of the best in the city (imho). A lovely fusion of Royal Thai flavours are featured in their a la carte and set menus which change with every season. My vegan friends will be glad to hear that there’s a vegan tasting menu at this Toronto Thai restaurant. The cocktails here are also magic! Get cozy at a table or dine at their bar area for a more conversational evening.

Laylak – Financial District

A true hidden gem! This upscale Lebanese restaurant is super chic and has a fantastic menu with something for every dietary need. The service here was also impressive and I enjoyed their aromatic cocktails and the vibe. Check out our Instagram reel!  Definitely one of the best restaurants in Toronto for couples!

Osteria Giulia – Yorkville

food and wine at Osteria Guillia Toronto restaurant

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced Michelin-starred restaurant in Toronto, this is it! You can enjoy dishes inspired by Liguiria and this Italian restaurant is perfect for seafood lovers on a date in Toronto. Getting a reservation can be tough but keep trying – we nabbed a last minute reservation one kid free evening and dashed to the candle lit restaurant an hour later! (Watch what we ate here)

Lao Lao Bar – Yonge/Wellesley

Lao Lao Bar Date Night Toronto

Looking for something upscale but laid back? Then this Toronto date night restaurant is calling your name! You’ll find elevated Laotian street food on the menu here and I promise that you’ll have a great time here while trying some new flavours. Check out our Instagram reel!

Bar Reyna – Yorkville and Old Town

Chris and I first dined here on a date night back in 2016 and needless to say, this Toronto restaurant remains one of our favourite romantic dining spots in the city. Their newer King street location is also a vibe if you’re looking for a patio but the original Yorkville townhouse location is my recommendation for an intimate date night. It is currently getting a facelift so I’m excited to see what the upgraded space looks like. I have no doubt that the Mediterranean fare and well-balanced fun cocktails will continue to wow us!

Bosk – Downtown (Shangri-La)

Yashy at Bosk Shangri La Toronto restaurant

If you love hotel lobby bars like I do, then you’re already familiar with the Shangri-La Toronto’s elegant space. However, have you ever dined at Bosk? This restaurant at the Shangri La is fabulous for a date night and Chris and I have dined here on a couple occasions. Back in the day they used to have an exquisite tasting menu and these days they offer an a la carte menu featuring Northern Italian dishes with a Canadian twist. We’ve even enjoyed a Valentine’s Day dinner here and I love that the menu is always filled with pretty details that also taste delicious.

Little Sister – Portland Street

Having spent a lot of time in Amsterdam during my youth, I have a deep appreciation for Dutch Indonesian food and Little Sister in Toronto is a fabulous Toronto date night restaurant. They serve up some solid cocktails here and while we’ve been here with a group of friends, I say this is just as fabulous for a romantic night. Get cozy at one of the small tables and order up some shareable Indonesian plates with bold flavours!

Date Night Restaurants in Toronto with a Vibe

Looking to impress your date with more than just great food? These Toronto spots bring the energy, atmosphere and style—making them perfect for couples who want dinner to feel like an experience. Think plush interiors, dim lighting and all the mood-setting details.

Arianna at Harbour Sixty – Harbourfront

I absolutely love the decor throughout the new upgraded Harbour Sixty and Arianna sits at the top of the building. You’ll find old-school glamour meets modern indulgence here and I think it’s a fun place to snuggle into a booth for some drinks and nibbles as you and your date chat the evening away. They do meat really well here and there was a DJ spinning during our evening visit. Most of all, I applaud Arianna for service because attentive and prompt service isn’t easy to come by in Toronto and the servers here are definitely on top of things!

BlueBlood Steakhouse – Casa Loma

Act like a true king and queen tonight!!! Dining in a castle is definitely one of the unique things one can do in Toronto. Located in Casa Loma, BlueBlood steakhouse transports you into a Great Gatsby-esque era. (The artist formerly known as) Prince or the Queen looks upon on you as you enjoy Caesar salads made table-side and steaks.  If you want to continue the night, see if they have a Twilight Symphony taking place during your visit. (Click here to see our Toronto castle dining experience).

Chotto Matte – Financial District

couple at Chotto matte Toronto restaurant

Ever had Nikkei cuisine (Japanese-Peruvian fusion) before? I hadn’t until our brunch here. Now I’ve taken the kids to the brunch here but for dinner and nightcaps, it’s always an adults only outing. If you’re looking for a different kinda night out, Chotto Matte will deliver. They have fun cocktails and the decor transports you into the Amazon jungle –  think giant leafy greens, glow in the dark art and lava!

Bar Piquette – Dundas West

This cozy wine bar feels like a well-kept secret. With low lighting, natural wines and an effortlessly cool crowd, it’s definitely made for relaxed conversations and flirty eye contact across the table. I’ve loved every Bar Piquette visit and discover new wines on every visit. Oh and the snacks are really good and changes often.

Best Bars for Date Night in Toronto

Whether you’re kicking things off with a cocktail or wrapping up your evening with a nightcap, Toronto has no shortage of stylish, intimate and vibey bars perfect for date night. Chris and I have visited quite a few Toronto bars over the years and we’re lucky to live in a city that has some fantastic bars. Which means narrowing this list wasn’t easy. I am going to share a range of options and know that the drinks are the focus here (though a few of these spots also serve up some great snacks too). Here are some of our favourite picks to sip and flirt your way through the city.

Bar Prequel – Queen West

Think apothecary meets bar and you’ll get a feel for this swanky Toronto bar that’s perfect for couples looking to hide away. Once again, there’s speak easy vibes when you enter the shop before you’re whisked away behind a curtain. The bartenders here are fabulous and often open to a friendly chat. This is why I recommend sitting by the bar! The drinks here have spices and all sorts of unique notes so choose your drinks wisely and you’re in for a true treat!

CKTL & Co – Financial District

If you or your date are “Bay street” folks or dabble in the stock market, you’ll enjoy the stock-market style cocktail pricing at this sleek Toronto bar. Drink prices are driven by market demand and you can make it a game to snag your favourite cocktail at the lowest price. The market has  never crashed during my visit, but I keep hoping! They also have a full menu (that looks solid) but I usually come here for cocktails and maybe some fries and snacks!

À Toi – Entertainment District

I definitely have a thing for speakeasy vibes and this King street bar is probably Toronto’s worst kept secret! Everyone knows how to find A Toi at Coffee Oysters Champagne but that doesn’t make it any less cool. Behind a champagne wall, you’ll find old-world Parisian glam. Expertly crafted cocktails (it will take you a while to make your choice), velvet booths and vintage glassware makes this a fail proof date night bar for those nightcaps. Oh and they MAY have some secret entertainment or burlesque performances on occasion.

Mrs. Robinson – Little Italy

Head to this Toronto date night bar for a soulful evening. There’s usually a live band or DJ spinning funky, retro soul beats. This is a fun choice for couples looking for a more playful, laidback vibe. I’ve been here many times but haven’t dined here so I can only tell you about the drinks!

XXX – King West

With only about 10 seats, this is an intimate speakeasy located below Little Sister (which I mentioned above). You can get real close and cosey here as you sip some of the best darn cocktails in the city! Think fun and whacky flavours that come together artistically.

Short Turn– College Street

You definitely get film noir vibes at this romantic bar. It’s most definitely a neighborhood favourite with well-made drinks and a charming bistro-style atmosphere—perfect for easy conversation. Get the popcorn snacks! Short Turn is the sister spot for 416 snack bar which is also a solid date night spot!
