Date Night Unwinding

IMG_20140618_193543 (Custom)With summer here there’s event after event lined up and things are getting a bit hectic here. The hubs and my parents have been generously covering the babysitting as I’ve taken one or none of the little rugrats out with me and my need to unwind has been a priority. I actually suck at unwinding…I manage to give myself an hour before bed to stare at the tv but I think I need a bit more than an hour to really tune out the day’s work.

Last week the hubs and I popped by to catch some gorgeous views of Toronto from across the water as we sampled the latest vintage of wines from Two Oceans. We caught up on our summer plans and finalized some details on our upcoming trip to Nova Scotia as we sipped on Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot and newly discovered Moscato. If you like ice wine you’ll definitely like the Two Oceans Moscato, that’s for sure! Shiraz was my next favourte of the evening.

We came home to find out that the Little Monkey wanted to run down Yonge Street. Yes at 10 p.m. So off I went with her in the hopes of getting her into bed before midnight. As you can see she wasn’t very tired even after the run! I had to bribe her with the promise of playing with friends the next morning if she went to bed.

Yes it was nearly 11 p.m. but unwinding in front of the telly with the hubs was definitely what I needed. I made myself a sandwhich for dinner (yes…I’m having dinner at 11 p.m. – welcome to my random life!) and paired it with a Melville’s Ginger Beer (if you like the ginger flavour infused with REAL beer – this is one to check out, not overly sweet) and snuggled up for some Orange is the New Black Season 2. Well… there was some chocolate too. A big thanks to the Netflix team for sending me that much needed chocolate!

We’re trying so hard not to binge on Orange in  the New Black but now that we’re done with Downton Abbey it’s all we’ve got to watch! So far we have been successful watching just one episode a day … but with all episodes available at the click of the remote…it’s so hard! Luckily I have no time because I’m exhausted come midnight and this personal cow has to be up in a few hours for a feed.

What are you watching these days? Are you civilized or do you binge watch?

Unwinding in front of the tv usually ends up with at least hubby or I snoring
