Our evening at Medieval Times Toronto | Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway

medieval times. medieval times TorontoWe spent Sunday evening at Medieval Times in Toronto with our winners from last month’s contest and we’re excited to report that we had an absolute blast and are ready to giveaway another family five pack as part of our Holiday Gift Guide! We got exactly what we were promised – an entertaining evening in 11th Century fashion!

Disclaimer : I have received compensation for this post as well as tickets for my family and the chance for one of my readers to attend Medieval Times Toronto but as always, opinions are totally mine!

The moment you enter Medieval Times you realize that you truly are in a Castle! Characters decked out in period clothing welcome you and you’re given a crown that highlights which knight you’ll be cheering for before being allowed to wander off to explore the various parts of the Castle. This is a great time to pick up souvenirs or just roam around taking your own pictures. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of souvenirs on offer; from t-shirts and swords to full costumes and even the chance to take a family portrait decked out in 11th Century clothing! As we waited to be allowed into the main arena where the action really happens, we were entertained by the King and his knighting ceremony (You can get your child knighted for an additional fee! How cool is that?). The Little Monkey was too young for that so we didn’t participate but cheered on those who were knighted. There’s plenty of photo opps and the chance to buy some professional pictures (as you do when you travel to fun places!) and everyone accepts credit card so that’s also helpful. My parents picked up a family portrait to cherish the memories of our outing together while I took plenty of photos for my digital gallery!

I can sit and tell you all about the horses (they really were the main attraction for the Little Monkey) and the fun we had watching the knights battling each other for the win but instead I’ve made a slide show with our pictures and videos from last evening to give you a REAL feel of what it was like! Let me know which aspect you like the best.

I really liked how family friendly the space was. There was stroller parking, high chairs and booster seats available for those with small children and the servers (wenches) were more than happy to get things organized for us. We had an extra seat on our row and were able to move a chair to place Baby Boy in his car seat next to us. I know we totally lucked out with this and I would instead recommend a baby carrier just incase you have to keep a newborn on your lap for the entire show. Kids aged 3 and under can sit on your lap (and don’t need tickets) but we really appreciated that the Little Monkey had her own seat and she thoroughly enjoyed the food as well. Glad I didn’t have to share!! I’m sure you’d like to know what the food was like, Yes? We were stuffed silly – I liked the garlic bread, the flavourful baked potato and the dessert best. The chicken was well made but you know the brown in me wanted some hot sauce and then it would have been perfect! The hubs really liked the rib we got, so much so that he even stole the Little Monkey’s one. My mom is a vegetarian and she got a lentil stew instead of the chicken and they were also ready to accommodate any dairy sensitivities. Everything is to be eaten without cutlery but I did spot my mom with a spoon in her hand! We weren’t given anything for the chicken and I was totally fine with it. Only sad part was that the Little Monkey found it a bit difficult to drink her soup from the bowl and so sneaking in a spoon or straw for a toddler might not be a bad idea. We also went for the show during prime nap time but save a small slip off the booster seat she didn’t have too many crying fits (luckily!) and Baby Boy was not bothered by the “noise” one bit as he snoozed his way through the entire show!

No matter your age you’re bound to enjoy Medieval Times. The Little Monkey is two and she was having as much fun as my 60 year old dad! We were surrounded by kids of all ages and the older ones were really getting into the boo-ing and cheering and it was fun watching them so animated. Despite our Knight not winning we had an entertaining afternoon being transported to the times of the past where we noshed on some eats, embarked on a thrilling adventure and cheered on to our hearts content! I can see why this is one of the more popular attractions with tourists visiting Toronto and am very thankful for PTPA for giving my family and I the chance to FINALLY attend the show! Ofcourse we have a chance for you to experience Medieval Times for yourself…so enter through the Rafflecopter below! Good luck!!
