This week I took Baby Boy and Little Monkey to check out the Kids’ CBC Day activities and even popped by a Very Important Picnic ( I know..what? Yes I went alone with the kids). Little Monkey is living proof that TV isn’t a bad thing for kids as I credit the TV programs for her knowledge of the alphabet and her expansive vocabulary so I was curious to see what the folks over at CBC were up to. At the picnic we found out that CBC actually has some passionate people behind their childrens programming department. It was reassuring to learn that they have a child psychologist who offers guidance on the various programs and shows they air and that they take various elements to play when creating new programs. It’s true that most of us parents live in the on-demand era and go to the regular repertoire of cartoons everyone’s talking about but I think I’m going to make it my mission to explore some of our local channels a bit more this summer. On a side note be sure to check out the Kids’ CBC Days next year (happens each July for 2 days) as there was plenty of fun activities for the little ones. Yes it was busy and I did have to stand for 30 minutes to get into the bouncy castle and dealt with a major tantrum when we had to leave five minutes later… but it was worth it.
So as we gear up for a relaxing weekend, here’s some pictures of what Baby Boy wore for his first ever picnic!

It is astonishing to me how much my kids pick up from watching things. Both impressive and scary that they learn so fast.
