Food and drink events in the city

You know spring is in the air when Toronto comes to life many delicious food and drink related festivals and events. Two exceptional events are taking place the weekend of April 5-7th and I’ve got some hook ups for you!

Brew Benefit is a self guided pub crawl inspired by our 12 pubs of Christmas crawl this past December (full disclosure- I work for Dishcrawl). Gather your friends and roam through 6 fabulous spots on the Esplanade and Front St. area where you will get to sample 12 brews (5 oz samples with perhaps a few surprises thrown in there!). Best part is that it’s in benefit of The Stop Community Food Centre! Each restaurant will have a local Ontario craft brewery on feature with two different beers on offer. Most venues will be doing a special $5 dish on offer if you’re getting the munchies! Gather the troops, use the promo code grp to get 13% off your tickets! Everything’s organized so all you have to do is roam around following the map! Event goes from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. and is the perfect way to spend a hopefully sunny Sunday!

The newly renamed Good Food & Drink Festival, now in its 21st year (Impressive eh?), gets bigger and more delicious each year form what I hear. From April 5th to the 7th the Good Food & Drink Festival will be at the Direct Energy Centre and guests can explore new cuisines trends, gourmet fares, natural food, demonstrations and so much more… all while sipping on wines, beers, spirits and other bevies. In addition there’s many guest speakers (such as Anna Olsen and James Cunningham) and various sessions (glassware 101 anyone?) that are sure to educate and entertain many. I love that they open at noon on Friday, which means that those looking to play hooky from work can easily enjoy a less crowded exploration of the space. Half day Fridays from work anyone? Thanks to the good folks at the festival I’ve got three pairs of General Admission passes for three lucky readers! Enter through the Rafflecopter below! I’ll be picking a winner on Tuesday April 2nd!  It’s a great family outing as kids are allowed… which is rare at these food and wine related events. Parent’s please don’t bring the industrial strollers… be nice! You know it’s going to get crowded especially in the evenings and on the weekends.  Stay tuned for a recap of our adventures and new finds!
