Go-Go Babyz Mini Travelmate

Disclosure : I received the Go-Go Babyz Mini Travelmate for free. As always the opinions are totally mine!

This is how we used to do it ...

If you’re like us, we dreaded making the switch from the infant car seat to the toddler version. I hated the change… the toddler seats are so darn heavy and because we don’t own a car we were lugging it around when we were taking the subway to link up with friends. I know you’re  a bit confused… you see we’re city dwellers, we walk everywhere or cab it. Now you don’t NEED to have a car seat in a cab (but ofcouse it’s safer to have one than not – see my taxi post here). That said we often take the subway or the GO train to visit friends who’d pick us up on the other end and then we’d need to have a car seat. Carrying that bad boy is a back breaking exercise I leave to the hubs! The picture on the left was taken during a 20 minute walk from our home to the GO station … we could have cabbed it but we decided not to since it was so nice outside!

As we prepped for our recent travels to Ireland, we realized that it would cost us more to rent a car seat for the week than it would be to buy one! That made the decision for us to take our car seat with us an obvious one. Neither the hubs nor I were looking forward to lugging it around but we knew we had to. Then voila! I came across the Go-Go Babys Mini Travelmate and it looked marvelous! I contacted the Twitter team to find out if it would be compatible with our car seat and they sent me one for review purposes. I was tickled pink! At under $70 this thing looked like it would be an amazing find (and a possible add on to one of my favourite baby items!). So how did it fare?

Well let me tell you...everyone.. including the Little Monkey loved it! The Mini Travelmate is compact and only weighs 3.5 pounds (which meant that the little one was using it as a toy!) and when not in use it folds up easily and fits in the overhead cabins. In terms of attaching the device to the car seat… it took less than a minute. The hubs was done with it so quick that I never got a chance to make a video to show you how easy it is! Not to worry though, we’ll be using this on a weekly basis so you’ll be sure to get a video tutorial very soon! Even though we did check in the car seat (in a few months she will have her own seat then we may decide to take the car seat on board with us) the Mini Travelmate was still handy even for the short distances that we had to lug the car seat around to. Loved not having to carry the car seat and we loved the fact that the unit was very stable and secure when the Little Monkey was in the car seat. Not once did we feel worried about her being injured or in any danger. The handle is expandable which meant that it worked well for the hubs and short old me!

If you’re a family on the go I highly recommend the Go-Go Babyz Mini Travelmate! If you’re looking for the best car seats to travel with, our friends at Family Voyage have a great round up!

That looks great! I bet I could use it to cart around my camera bag.

I’ve been tempted to see what else I can attach on to it!
