Life on the go with the LG G3 and Giveaway

LG G3 review, phone review, phone for momsA couple weeks ago I was invited to attend an event with LG Canada and Mom Central where I got the chance to enjoy tea with fellow moms and bloggers. The chocolates were fabulous but the star of the evening was the new LG G3 phone and we not only got the chance to learn about the many awesome features that can make family life easier, but we went home with our own phone! How sweet is that? This post is an LG G3 review and has a giveaway for one reader to win their own LG G3 phone!

There’s one thing many in my close circle of friends know about me… I’m a bit clumsy when it comes to phones. From drowning it in the rain (happened last month!) to cooking it in my turkey (happened five years ago) I’ve been through many a phone. On average something happens to my phone every two years or so. No, it isn’t an excuse to get a new phone. I promise. What this means is that I have been through quite a few phones since I got that very first one at the sweet age of 17.

Disclosure: I am part of the Mom Central Canada LG G3 Blogger Campaign and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog, as always, are totally mine.

I rarely use my phone for making phone calls but it’s a vital part of me and never more than a foot away. Why? Because I’m addicted to taking photographs and sharing my life through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook on a near hourly basis. I also Whatsapp with my friends all over the world …which means I have someone to talk to even at 3 a.m. The LG G3 android phone has many awesome features and honestly I could write a book on it but instead I’m going to ONLY share some of my ABSOLUTE favourite features.

    • Camera : The LG G3 is the FIRST phone to have a laser auto focus feature and it ensures that you get some crystal clear pictures, yes even of moving Baby Boy!! Check out the video to see some of the selfies I’ve got with the kids. Also there’s a full on selfie feature that offers your own stylist. Okay, not technically, but the screen illuminates (even in complete darkness) with a lighting effect similar to ones that professional photographers use for beauty and portrait shots. Picture perfect and you can take a picture with a wave of your hand or by simply saying “cheese”! I’m not into selfies so I use the selfie most for taking food pictures when we dine out. No more excuses for bad food photography at dark restaurants when I don’t have my DSLR with me. Also you can slot in a microSD card to increase the phone’s memory.

    • Guest Mode : My kids are always on my phone and I don’t mind it, especially when it means I can enjoy a glass of vino or catch up with friends when we dine out as a family. The LG G3 has a smart guest mode that allows you to customize the apps that will be available. I’ve found a new way to ensure that Little Monkey doesn’t hop on YouTube and instead, plays educational games. Also…there’s no more gibberish texts sent to my friends or emails to my client.

    • Design : I like things tiny. They need to fit in my pocket and I need to hold it between my lips as I run after the kids. Needless to say, I was hesitant about the size of the LG G3 but that hesitation only last an hour. This baby fits in your hand perfectly…dare I say it.. like  a glove. I am in love with the rear keys that allow you to control the phone without having to flip the screen. The phone is well designed and they’ve thought about many elements; like the fish eye screen that lets you see the weather and select apps and even allows you to take a photo without having to log into the phone. Very INTUITIVE.

    • Features : This is one SMART phone, it can help you clean up your unused apps, tell you that snow is on the way and that perhaps you need an umbrella. There’s even an app that tracks your steps and helps you maintain a health regime. All of this is in addition to all the usual features other smart phones offer. Oh and yes, I was able to install Swype – I can’t live without that. If your phone rings you can flip it and it lowers the volume….umm.. same thing happens for your morning alarm. Which can be dangerous.

    • Battery : It last a whole day. I kid you not. My other phone dies two hours after I wake up and it’s also a new phone. Instagram is what kills my battery and so I’m shocked that the LG G3 lasts that long with all the ACTIVE apps I have on it.

lgg3 phone, lgg3moms, phone review, lg canadaMy brother the tech geek who handles all my electronic needs and mishaps loves the phone too. I was shocked when he stole borrowed my phone for a day and then decided to buy one himself. That battery life and camera is truly spectacular and anyone who plays with the LG G3 is enamoured by the quality. I especially love the camera which offers so many features for capturing moments on the go. It’s the sole reason I’m seriously contemplating switching mobile providers. There’s a couple things that bug me about the LG G3; it is incompatible with the WIND network which I’m on (works great on every other network though!) and I couldn’t find the official Starbucks app in the LG App store. Those are my two main issues. Yes I only have two things to crib about, which is rare! Enough about me loving the LG G3… it’s now your chance to win one! Seriously, if you’re a non Quebec living Canadian the LG G3 could be yours! Good luck!

I read your article regarding your trip to Montreal in the travel section and liked your mention of the Atwater Market and the microbrew pub Dieu du Ciel which is my son’s favorite place.

This sounds like an amazing opportunity.
    I hope I win this!
I have been such an apple geek, that I never buy electronics not by apple. I would love to branch out and test out new gadgets and I think this would really break my habit of going just for apple!

I have to agree with Laura! WOW. Do you think it would be an easy switch from a Samsung? I am looking for a change! Thanks for the chance!

It’s a very easy switch… my other phone is a Samsung s4 active (which is waterproof!) but doesn’t have those back keys and stunning camera! Good luck Tammy!

Thanks Yasha. The camera really is the feature drawing me in. My Samsung is so slow I miss the moment. Waterproof really? With all the travel you do keeping that handy would be a great idea 🙂

I’d love a phone that isn’t broken and is safe from water (which is what got me into trouble in the first place).

This one definitely isn’t broken but it isn’t waterproof/resistant either. I can’t wait for a fully waterproof phone to be developed!

I’ve never had an LG ever in my life but this post makes me wish I had one! The 3 reasons why I would actually switch from being a iPhone fanatic: camera, battery life, and guest mode.

I am always using my phone to take food pics and selfies and others. I like that this has a better laser focus. Battery life sounds great because right now my batt life sucks… It dies in less then an hour. Guest mode, I like that you have this option if others want to see your phone and you don’t want them to access all apps.

Absolutely loving everything I’m hearing about this phone! And the camera, is just incredible! Currently I use an Apple iPhone 5, but my techy nerd girl side is desperately itching for something new. I also have a very hard time seeing anything I’m doing on the 5’s screen size, which makes the LG G3’s 5.5″ HD screen so attractive to me. I’m not a big fan of change, but this is something I would be willing to change to in a heart beat!
