Milk Unleashed | Perfect option for travelling toddlers and kids

1441300_685696885927_493877159_nWe have found a milk solution that helps us travel and be out and about the city with our toddler! Milk Unleashed to the rescue! I’m here to once again share our love for shelf safe milk options. As you know the Little Monkey is a huge HUGE fan of milk and I’d even go as far as to say that she’s addicted to it. She wants it all the time and tantrums ensue when she doesn’t get it. Tantrums that I succumb to.

You may recall that we used Baboo to transition from breast milk and it was absolutely perfect for us. We traveled with the 1 Litre packs when we went to Mexico for a week and I always had the individual packs in my diaper bag since the transition. The individual packs were fantastic because I knew I was always stocked with milk and I could easily whip one out when it was time for a nap or if she was just cranky…I could then continue my shopping or attend an event with no qualms or panic attacks. She even had milk whilst at the Blarney Castle in Ireland! With Baboo I appreciated that the shelf life was only 3 months and that the fat content was high. Seriously… I loved everything about Baboo and I could have been their poster child!

Disclaimer : I have received compensation for sharing my love for shelf safe milk options. However as you know.. I’ve been sharing this love long before on my own accord…as always these opinions are totally mine!

Fast forward a year and the Little Monkey is now two and on organic homogenized milk. I was sneaking in some Baboo during our city travels and decided to explore alternatives as Baboo is only recommended up to the age of two. My challenge is that the individual packs are extremely difficult to find. I’ve looked at all my regular stores and even made requests for them to bring it. Needless to say…it’s a rare occasion when I do find them. So rare that I stock up on 5 months (packs are good for 6 months from manufacture date) supply any chance I get. Chokéo and Grand Pré are the brands I’ve seen on shelf by the tetra pack section. You can even get soy and almond milk in these small formats.

Recently I got my hands on some chocolate milk and figured I’d keep them on hand for myself (hey I’m breastfeeding and constantly thirsty! Cut me some slack)… well what do you know? I was out shopping and someone got cracky… ironically my mom was with me and filmed the whole episode that ensued…..check out the Little Monkey’s reaction in the video! Oh and ofcourse I not only was caught without milk but also a bottle to pour the milk into.. the initial reaction wasn’t pretty…but she caved and I was able to continue my shopping! Phew!

Sure fresh milk is great but so is milk in tetra packs. Shelf Safe milk still has the same nutrients, calcium and protein. In Fact growing up in Dubai we used to get our milk in tetra packs and it was only towards 1994 that we started seeing fresh refrigerated milk options. Until then it was tetra packs for us. I for one am very grateful for the various shelf safe milk options out there and wish they were more accessible. Travelling with a young child means there is a need for milk on a daily basis and while we can purchase milk once in a new city, it helps to take a few packs of milk from home to hold us over for a couple days as we figure out the lay of the land.

Shelf Safe milk keeps us on the move and I’d say that hands down it is one of the items that enable me to be out and about with the Little Monkey. Baby Boy is still on breastmilk and will be for a good while but when the time comes I’ll be looking at Baboo and the various other options to help with each transitionary phase. What about you? Do you have a milk guzzler on hand? How do you solve their need for milk away from home?

sounds like a great product to have when you are unsure of the milk where ever you travel
