Psychic readings

Ever been to a psychic? I have! Growing up with a South Asian background meant that I was privy to many a Tarot card, palm, astrology and aura reading. Do I believe in it? Absolutely not. Do I think it’s fun? Totally! Have I been surprised by an accurate reading or prediction?  Very rarely!

In Sri Lanka fortune tellers are relied on to guide many a decision making  process… including life partner compatibility. Many families would not agree to a marriage if the horoscopes of the bride  and groom to be do not line up for a successful  partnership (clearly these  readings aren’t accurate given the rate of divorce!). Yes… my mom got mine and the hubs matched up but don’t ask me what the ‘pandits’ said. Whatever it was, it must have been a decent story for the family not to throw any tantrums. Not that I would have listened had they done that anyways.

Having had readings in Colombo, Dubai and Karachi I  thought it would be fun to try one out in Toronto. A couple friends had recommended a psychic at the Southern Accent restaurant (she also does private sessions and house calls, if anyone is interested I can pass along her details)  and so off a friend and I went with, baby in tow (the hubs refuses to partake in any of these shenanigans). My friend was blown away by the psychic’s revelations of his past and seems to have received some favourable predictions about his future. I  as usual was not blown away by any of the predictions because history has taught me that no one has been able to accurately predict anything for me (though other people I go with have had mind blowingly accurate predictions). So while it would be awesome if a couple items do come true, there was also some odd allusions that made no sense. For example Psychic Kim asked me about a  romantic involvement with a person whose name starts with the letter ‘R’ (nopes!) and I found out that she asked my friend the same thing minutes later! Go figure. However I will admit that just before the end of my 15 minute session (which cost me $35) she did tap into a very serious event that took place that very  morning and so I do have to wonder if there is perhaps something to her reading and skills.

I guess only the future will tell… I am not very good at remembering these sessions and have on occasion been gently reminded by a friend or two (who I would have confided with about the reading) about a past prediction that has now come true. If you’re looking for an unusual night out with friends (good dinner, great laughs) I definitely recommend checking out  Southern Accent.  If you’re looking for a dedicated reading (either as a  life experience or  as  a believer of psychic powers) I would advice having a dedicated private reading.  Kim the psychic at Southern Accent is definitely one of the better psychics I’ve heard of in Toronto. Another highly  recommended one (I have unfortunately not  had the pleasure of having a reading  through her) is Eva’s Eden. Don’t expect these ladies to look like gypsies with frizzy hair gathered under a bandanna and a crystal ball floating in the air. That’s just in the movies.

So there you go… something unusual to add to your repertoire of escapades! Keep me posted if you’ve been to any of these psychics or if you plan on!

No I have not got to a psychic before, but I think it would be fun 🙂

There is a town near my parents where the people believe they can speak with ghosts/spirits. It is really hard to keep the skepticism up when you go there because you hear loads of crazy stories! I had a reading done once that seemed dead on at the time, but now it doesn’t seem quite as accurate.

Ya, I would sure like to say Eva was on the spot for my husband and I. Most of her predictions are true. Some have already materialised and the rest yet to come! Will see!
