Steven and Chris Holiday Special

steven and chris holiday showI don’t think I’ve kept it a secret, one of my favourite daytime shows is the Steven and Chris show! I‘ve been part of their audience quite a few times since I first attended one of their shows during my first maternity leave and they continue to be a show I frequent, any chance I get.

In fact whenever friends visit Toronto, attending a taping of one of the local daytime shows is always on our top to do list. When college friends of mine visited us for Little Monkey and Baby Boy’s birthday in October, I attended a Steven and Chris taping with them and you’d think that I’d have had my fill. Well….when the team at Steven and Chris invited me for a special behind the scenes peek as they taped one their holiday shows, I simply couldn’t say no!

A few weeks ago, along with a few other bloggers and Steven and Chris fans I attended a taping of their very first 2014 holiday show….which airs TODAY! I wasn’t sure what to expect but as always, it was an absolute blast. During previous visits we would line up and then get seated but this time I got the chance to walk through the set prior to the show. Set designer, Olivia Lauren, took us through her inspirations for the set and it was astounding how much work and creativity goes into the set. As you watch the opening scene today, keep an eye out for the little details on the set. It was also pretty cool to watch Steven and Chris walk through the set prior to the show and really get tuned into their role for the next hour. It’s all the behind the scenes stuff that fascinates me!

day time tv toronto, giveaway daytime tvOnce the rest of the audience walked in we all took our seats, similar to a regular show. We watched the guys entertain their guests and chat up a storm, whilst making us laugh. Our taping was a kick off for the holiday shows that will take place over the next two weeks. The show we attended (the one that airs today) was all about holiday shopping adventures with Chris’ Angels (where they visit the Avion Holiday Boutique), holiday appetizers with Chef Lynn Crawford, equestrian holiday décor with Erin McClaughlin and a hostess gift guide with Steven and Chris. Yes the Tom for Target two headed sweater also made an appearance!

Cheff Lynn Crawford, cheese tree. brie treeI’m not going to lie, this decadently cheese ‘tree’ created by Chef Lynn was all I could think about during the taping…well, until they told us that we were all walking out with each and every one of the hostess gifts they had shared that day! Wohooo! It was like being on Oprah. But much funnier.

Part of my visit also included a hangout session after the show and we got to meet and mingle with Steven and Chris. However, the highlight was quite possibly, the chance to dig into Chef Lynn’s creation. We don’t usually get to eat the food that gets cooked on the show when we’re part of the regular audience, but since this was a special visit I got to eat and enjoy the dishes featured during the show. What a treat!

10402778_751241948097_545315488987430537_nI bet there’s going to be plenty of fun stuff showcased during the Steven and Chris holiday shows over the next couple of days. A neat little way to get in the festive mood, if you’re not already singing Christmas tunes 24-7. Perhaps my new year’s resolution this upcoming year should be to join the guys for a show…how fun would it be to chat all about toddler accompanied dining and travel with these two? I had a great time when I was a guest on Rogers DaytimeMarilyn Denis and Breakfast Television, so I guess it’s time I try to get on Steven and Chris eh?

Psst… you can request (free) tickets to a taping of the Steven and Chris show in the new year by filling out this form.

I hope you’re getting into the festive spirit folks! Don’t forget to enter our giveaways…we’ll be picking winners over the weekend.

How fun for you! It sounds like a blast, and shows are always better live.
I got a chance to meet Chef Lynn Crawford and have some of her food at an even in PEI. I still dream about those potatoes. :p

I love the Steven and Chris show. I was on it once. I modelled an outfit for them. It was so much fun.
