Swaying to the Beatles with #BeatBugs | Giveaway

netflix for little kidsIt’s my birthday week and we have a bunch of gifts lined up for you… sharing is caring, right? When friends and family ask me what I want for my birthday, I tell them the same thing  as I have over the past few years – let’s do something together. Or… offer to babysit the kids :). Experiences and gatherings are the way to go, especially when you live in a small space strapped condo with little ones. Ensure you swing by every day this week for a chance to win some fun prizes, starting with a 3 month Netflix Subscription for Canadians (you can top up your existing plan if you win this one!).

Disclosure : We are part of the Netflix Streamteam and receive special perks but, as always, opinions are totally ours!

As you know, when we’re at home we’re either listening to music, breaking up fights over toys or watching tv/iPad. So I thought it fitting that Netflix told us about the new music filled Beat Bugs for little ones. This new Netflix Original series for kids is inspired by music made famous by the Beatles and is covered by artists like P!nk, Aloe Blacc, Eddie Vedder and Sia. We spent yesterday binge watching (and singing to) some of the tunes and I was surprised that the kids started humming from the very first episode! The hubs is in charge of the playlists at home and so it’s no surprise that they’ve heard plenty of Beatles tunes over the years.

We’ve had the Beatles playing at home this month especially as Toronto celebrates 50 years since the Beatles played at the Maple Leaf Gardens! On August 17th 1966 the Beatles last came to town and rocked this city with their classics. Generations later, their music lives on and we now have a more accessible way to introduce the younger ones to their legendary music. You may have missed the many events, talks and pops ups the city put on in celebration but there’s a few more events into September so be sure to check them out if you’re a Beatles fan! Lawrence Market has a nice little exhibit of some pictures from the Beatles tour through Toronto and the city also offers a walk on September 1st so you can discover Yonge Street’s music history, beginning in the 1950s. This tour visits the sites of famous clubs like The Colonial, Friar, and Le Coq D’Or, and concert venues such as Massey Hall and the Eaton Auditorium, sharing some of the stories that unfolded.
