The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain #MurphysDoBlueMountain

Westin blue mountain During our multi-generational trip to Blue Mountain resort in the Collingwood area of Ontario, we were invited to stay as guests of The Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain. The last time I was at the resort (for a corporate getaway many many maaaany moons ago) I had stayed at the Westin and over the years I noticed that many families were hanging out here during  their visit to Blue Mountain. From the moment we arrived to the moment we said goodbye, we loved every little thing here. It’s absolutely perfect for large groups and for your travels with extended family.

We stayed in a two bedroom suite that gave all of us a chance to spread out. With three beds and a pull out couch,  2 kids and 5 adults were very comfortable. The hubs and I enjoyed the privacy of our King sized bed and en suite while the kids enjoyed their late night chats and early morning playtime with the grandparents. They ended up sharing the double beds in the second bedroom while my  grandmother opted for the pull out couch. Why did the oldest family member end up on the couch? Because the bed was nice and low making it easy for those numerous night time potty breaks. The living room also had access to the second en suite so she didn’t need to disturb my parents or the kids!

My mom loved the kitchen as it gave her the space to store the many baked goods, fruits and curries she brought along with her. We had told her that we wanted to explore the restaurants on site but in true Sri Lankan fashion, she brought everything with her! Of course the night we arrived, the hubs spotted the Oliver and Bonacini  Cafe & Grill downstairs in the hotel and so we ordered some room service. As much as I love O&B, I think you have to dine at the restaurant for the best experience. Our hotel room offered us the chance to unwind after the many fun activities at the Blue Mountain Resort (did you hear Little Monkey rattle them off at the end of the video?) and my mom and I also managed to get some work done once the kids went to bed.

The Westin Trillium House not only has direct access to the Plunge! Aquatic Centre (more on that soon!!) but they also have a gym and a fabulous pool! The pool was heated to perfection, especially on the cold day we decided to jump in. The kids had a blast and the hubs and I also enjoyed the hot tub. The pool is opened well past sunset, making late night swims a possibility – who doesn’t love that? I also loved seeing life jackets available for use, if needed.

While the moms were at the Iwa Spa, the dads took the kids to the Westin Kids Club at the hotel. The full program is active during the summer months (lots of great activities and kits for kids) but during their visit they were still able to burn some energy and play with the building blocks, toys and books. If you visit during the off-peak seasons, chat with the staff at the check-in desk, they may have some colouring books and treats for the kids kicking around. I was grateful for the crayons they gave us!

where to stay in blue mountain

where to travel with grand parentsThe Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain is not only a pet friendly hotel, it’s also a kid friendly one and even more.. a great grandmother friendly one! The hotel is made for gatherings and you’ll find the lobby bustling with activity. There’s plenty of spaces for groups to gather at and I loved the mini fire pit on the patio at night. There’s lots of different places to stay at when visiting Blue Mountain Resort and this spot was absolutely fab for our multi-generational getaway! There’s plenty of family friendly events lined up for the summer and I’m totally eyeing the Famarama festival. I always though a visit to Blue Mountain Resort was to be saved for the winter (snow and hot pools are a favourite of mine when combined at the same time!) but having visited in the spring, I really want to head back there this summer as well. There’s so much to do and The Westin Trillium House gives you easy access to the many activities. Can’t wait to share more on those in the next few weeks!

I LOVE Blue Mountain! I have not had the opportunity to stay at the village because my in-laws live in Collingwood so we always go for visits and stay for the weekend with them but we always make our way to the village and walk around. love it
