Family Shenanigans in Niagara on the Lake

IMG_20150530_113826 (Custom)You’ve seen us visiting Niagara on the Lake quite frequently because my parents moved there to start their new adventures as bed and breakfast owners and this past weekend saw us back in Ontario’s wine country for some family time. Niagara on the Lake is just an hour and a half from downtown Toronto and has plenty of good food and wine on offer for us (especially during the Sip & Sizzle program!). We also have babysitters and luxurious beds and fancy breakfasts which makes the area that more alluring.

IMG_20150530_220559 (Custom)As word spreads about Blue Skies B&B we won’t be able to enjoy the free accommodations so we’ve been visiting the area while we can.
Over the weekend  a couple of our closest friends joined us and spent some time at my parent’s place.  For the most part we lounged around and hit up the many wineries featured on the Sip & Sizzle passport (Yes!! We hit up the rest of the wineries and only missed out on 4 this year!) and enjoyed the sunshine that Toronto missed out on! We played Jenga in our PJs and laughed at each other’s expense like one big happy family. This month Netflix asked us what makes our family special and our weekend away reminded me of the question. What makes us special is that we welcome everyone into our family! From the moment you meet my mom, you will be called ‘darling’ and fed copious amount of food. As I looked around the room one afternoon I realized how our friends quickly become ‘family’.

Disclosure : I am part of Netflix Canada’s Stream Team and get perks as part of my association, but as always, opinions are always totally mine!

IMG_20150530_235636 (Custom)My parents offer their guests access  to their Netflix account during a stay at the BnB which reminded me of lazy summer days in Dubai lounging on the couch with the A.C on my face (Dubai in the summer time is NOT fun!). As we prep for a busy week ahead I thought I’d share some of my favourite  shows from  the 90s about friendship and family that are available on Netflix!

Full House (8 Seasons of pure childhood innocence)

Fresh Prince (6 Seasons of Carlton’s craziness!)

Friends (10 Seasons of cringing at the 90s fashion)

The X-Files (9 Seasons of wondering why you loved that show THAT much)

Now all I’m missing is Saved By The Bell, Out of This World, Boy Meets World and Family Matters! On a side note did anyone watch the sitcom Dinosaurs growing up? Do you have a favourite 90s show?

I remember my sister and I watching Dinosaurs (she even owned a baby sinclair toy) Loved watching all of the above shows.. Another favourite of mine was Dawson’s Creek, and 90210. Such great memories.

Yes I was tempted to put 90210 on the list .. but sadly my folks didn’t let me watch that in my teens and I had to wait until college! LOl
