Patak’s Pulled Beef Sandwiches

After traveling for two weeks I was yearning for some good home cooking and so I’m back in the kitchen with a vengeance! A day after our landing I had invited some guests over for a BBQ and told them not to have high hopes as they were getting whatever was in my freezer. Luckily for them I was feeling adventures and whipped up some delicious Pulled Beef Sandwiches that were toddler approved! Seriously… all three toddlers wolfed these down. Total mom win!

Of course I was absolutely exhausted after our early morning flight and getting back into the swing of things so I was a bit lazy but adventurous at the same time. Which is why I pulled out a beef roast and chopped it into cubes. I tossed the cubes with half a bottle of Patak’s Madras Cooking Sauce and three cups of water and let it boil for three hours. Feel free to add more water if needed. You want the meat to become tender but not fall apart. I cooked it on medium heat for about 3 hours and then drained the water out (it can be saved as stock).

Now comes the fun part! Toss the meat into a bowl and pull apart with a fork. The meat should fall apart and you can then add the remaining Patak’s Madras Cooking Sauce and add your favourite BBQ or Pulled Pork sauce to the mix ( about 4 tablespoons). I like mine a bit on the drier side but feel free to add more sauce if you like your meat saucy.

I served mine in tiny hamburger buns with some coleslaw. The Patak’s sauce has the perfect flavour of cumin and coriander to add a taste of India to this traditional dish.

IMG_8204 (Custom)I paired mine with the most delicious Amaize Sweet Corn (hunt this one down if you have a chance…it’s crazy sweet with a bit of crunch. DELISH) and a bottle of Growers Bing Cherry cider whilst the hubs added a bunch of hot sauce and paired it with his IPA. The buns were the perfect size for the toddlers at the BBQ and they confirmed that it paired well with a pint of milk!
