Sheraton On The Falls, Niagara Falls

niagara falls, sheraton on the falls, niagara falls hotel with viewWhen we asked LIttle Monkey what she wanted her for her birthday, the reply was ” a BIG BIG BIG lollipop and O-tel”. Well we couldn’t afford to buy a hotel so we got her the lollipop and spent a night at the Sheraton On The Falls in Niagara Falls, Canada. We have grandparents in town so they joined us for a quick weekend getaway and a good time was had by all. As you know, our family has recently had a love affair with Niagara Falls and this time we chose the Sheraton on the Falls mainly because it provided us with stellar views of Niagara Falls and provided access to the Fallsview Waterpark, as the hotel is part of the Falls Avenue Resort. No matter what the weather outside was like, we were warm and toasty in the hotel and didn’t need to step outdoors to amuse ourselves.

We’ll share more details about the waterpark and the Falls Avenue Resort another day but today it’s all about the Sheraton. There’s a couple Sheraton hotels in Niagara (which confused my dad who decided to pop by to visit us for a glass of vino overlooking the Falls) so keep in mind that this is the one in the resort and right by the Falls. There’s quite a few packages on offer but the one we chose was the one that gave us access to the Fallsview Waterpark and free parking. After all this weekend was all about the Little Monkey!

Disclosure : We received a complimentary stay, though as always, opinions are totally mine!

The Sheraton on the Falls stands in the spot where the first luxury hotels in Niagara, Clifton House and Clifton Hotel, once stood. Both the original hotels were destroyed by fires and in 1966 Sheraton entered the Niagara Falls hotel scene as the Sheraton Foxhead Inn which became Sheraton on the Falls in 2000. There’s your history lesson! The lobby area is definitely a popular hub for tourists and hotel guests as there’s plenty of welcoming lounge areas and a Starbucks cafe. Keep in mind that there’s temporary parking whilst you check-in but if you choose to self park you have to drive your vehicle to another spot to secure the complementary parking that comes with the package deal. Not an issue but something to keep in mind (don’t worry you can walk underground the whole way from the parking garage to the hotel).

Sheraton family getaway The video displays how much Little Monkey and Baby Boy enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton on the Falls but we parents enjoyed ourselves too! Wine by the fireplace was quite the relaxing way to end our night after our day at the Fallsview Waterpark. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of space for the grandparents to lounge around when they visited. In addition to the two Queen beds we also had a pull out couch (though we didn’t use it so I can’t tell you how comfortable it is) and Baby Boy’s crib fit in as well. Since the hotel has so many restaurants and cafes I didn’t stock up on milk but there was a fridge to store a couple bottles of milk. The room also had usb ports for charging your phone, complimentary water and Starbucks coffee we could brew ourselves. The highlight was waking up and seeing the Falls right in front of us. Our room had breath taking views of the falls and the daytime sights were exquisite. I’d love to visit again during the Fireworks because the floor to ceiling windows would give us the best seats in the house!

They do charge a resort fee but it comes with quite a few amenities such as North America wide calling, shuttle around Niagara Falls, WiFi and access to the Fitness centre. Other facilities available for guests include indoor and outdoor pools but keep in mind that the outdoor pool does close during cooler weather months. There’s a gorgeous spa, Christienne, where I popped in for a quick visit but did not have time to enjoy the hot tub overlooking the falls. How luxurious is that?

Fallsview Buffet, Sheraton on the falls hotelWhen it comes to dining there’s no shortage of options. Renowned chefs Jamie Kennedy and Massimo Capri have restaurants here and I plan to visit these on our next visit. For both dinner and breakfast we visited the Fallsview Buffet where Kids eat free during select times. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the highlight at dinner was the antipasto bar which had grilled jalapenos, Canadian Cheese and a Chocolate fountain. The mom in law and I made it a point to sample each and every dessert at the buffet and it was no easy task but we did it! I also enjoyed quite the view from a restaurant balcony overlooking the falls. For breakfast we scored a table with a view and enjoyed our made to order crepes and waffles with the fall foliage in front of us.

The Sheraton on the Falls offers scenic and mesmerizing views of Niagara Falls from pretty much every angle possible. Out of the 669 rooms and suites more than half of them offer views of Niagara Falls. Everyone we met was courteous and helpful and there’s a real holiday vibe at this 5 star Niagara Falls hotel. If you’re looking to explore Niagara Falls check out the Sheraton on the Falls!

I am a fan of Niagara Falls as well and often take one set of grandkids at a time to a night in the Falls. They love the indoor pool and having breakfast in a restaurant. I love spending time with them
