Spring is here! You know how I know? One of my favourite wine tours is back! It’s time for me to share all about Sip & Sizzle and we’ve got a giveaway! Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries host a food and wine pairing tour each May that is by far my favourite of all the wine events we attend. If you’ve been following our journey you’ve read about our many Wine & Herb trips and this year the folks behind the program have switched things up a bit and re-named it Sip & Sizzle.
The same concept is at play, a wine and food pairing awaits you at 26 wineries and the passport (priced under $50) is good every weekend in May. This year the wineries will have grilled food paired with each of their VQA offerings and nothing screams spring like a good BBq right? Want to eat your way but not drink the wine? Well then you’ll like the Designated Driver pass which gives you a non-alcoholic drink instead of the wine. This is one of those tours that is great in a group setting…each year we gather some fun folks and limo our way to sample our way through the wineries and this year we’re doing the same!
As a quick heads up to the Toronto folks, the Gardiner Expressway will be having work done from Bathurst to Humber River so plan your trip accordingly! We plan to leave early so we can be at our first winery by 11 a.m. and then depart at 5:30 p.m. without our usual stop for dinner. I’m expecting a long journey back with bumper to bumper traffic – fingers crossed it doesn’t happen!
This year the hubs and I would like a break and we’re planning our first full day away from Baby Boy and Little Monkey…let’s see if we go through with it! We’ve taken the Little Monkey with us on the tour for the past two years and it’s always been such a fun time but Baby Boy can get cranky and he’s not as good a sleeper as she was so we’re hoping both the grandmothers will step into action for this one.
If you’re planning to gather a group I can definitely recommend the Atlantic Limo company as they’re doing a fab job for us thus far and are quite reasonably priced. If your group is larger than 10, map out your stops and contact the wineries to let them know which weekend you’ll be attending. They like to be prepared for large groups and I am happy about that – they always greet us with a smile and get us through quickly so we can hit up more spots.
I’m excited to experience the new direction that the Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries are taking and I’m most excited about visiting the following:
