The Giacomo Hotel Niagara Falls, U.S.A

The Gicaomo Hotel, Luxury hotels, family friendly hotel, We spent last weekend at The Giacomo Hotel in Niagara Falls, U.S.A and one thing for sure… we’ll have to go back. Why? Because Little Monkey has already put in a request and it is now her favourite hotel. There’s no kiddy stuff here but she loved it! Watch the end of the video and you’ll see what I’m talking about. The Giacomo Hotel is most definitely our best bet for a luxurious stay at the U.S side of the falls.

Disclosure : Our stay was hosted by the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation, but as always, opinions are totally mine!

The hotel was originally the United Office building that was built in 1929. Renamed The Giacomo in 2010 the building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has become the premiere luxury boutique hotel in Niagara Falls. The tower can be spotted throughout the city and we loved that it was lit up every evening, making it even easier to find our way home at the end of the day. Art deco architecture is uniquely blended with a Mayan revival motif throughout the property making every nook and cranny in the building comfortable and stylish. What I loved most about the hotel was the uber chic and stylish vibe whilst making us feel comfy and cozy.

Niagara Falls hotelsOur room was spacious and had one of the largest hotel bathrooms we’ve had the luxury of enjoying. Little Monkey and Baby Boy would often be found playing in there and as long as the toilet seat was down and garbage bin out of the way, I didn’t mind at all! We had a two queen delux room which had enough room for us to park our stroller, stash the metal crib and have the kids muck about. The in room mini fridge with freezer were loved as always. My pumping days are done (phew!) but we needed to store milk for both kids and our spicy leftover wings from the Anchor Bar! The little things like bottles of water and chocolate each day were the icing on the cake for making this a comfortable and luxurious stay for us. Little Monkey loved the bed and slept blissfully but Baby Boy is a creature of comfort and he did wake up once in the middle of the night…we’re hoping to groom him into a little traveler and it’s taking a bit more effort than with Little Monkey but we will get there! Practice makes perfect.

Sure, The Giacomo Hotel doesn’t have a fancy pool but it has a stellar view that can’t be beat. I got a tip from their Twitter team and went up to the 19th floor indoor rooftop lounge to enjoy the gorgeous view of Niagara Falls. There’s nothing like watching the Illumination of the Falls or the fireworks from up above, with a glass of wine in hand. Open 24 hours a day the Skyview Lounge has comfy couches, a computer and plenty  of room for the kids to party at. There are stairs leading up to the space so it’s best to not take any strollers up there. Another trick is that only one elevator goes up the 18th floor so you have to grab the left one and most times have to go back to the reception area to flag it (press the down button and it always works. Yes down. Not up. Don’t ask too many questions).

In addition to the rooftop lounge The Giacomo Hotel has a bar and lounge downstairs that welcomes guests after 5 p.m. The space is open throughout the day should you wish to loiter around but the drinks only flow after 9 p.m. We didn’t have a chance to enjoy a pint there but the host was generous enough to provide us with a couple (empty) wine glasses for us to enjoy a bottle we purchased during a grocery run. Gotta love the U.S…milk and wine can be bought under the same roof, pretty much anywhere!

Hotel breakfast, niagara falls usaBreakfast is served in another room by the reception area and this sunny space is a nice way to start your day with a complimentary European breakfast. There are no high chairs here but the  table by the windows gave us enough space to have Baby Boy lounge by the couches once he was done with his breakfast. Standard fare on offer with bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages and breads. The piping hot waffles is what I’d opt for…with bacon and home fries on the top. The hubs and I were not fans of the eggs but Baby Boy was happy enough to gobble it down and we stocked up on milk and juice for the day.

One of the services we loved was the complimentary valet parking. Our Lincoln MKZ was whisked away each night and safely parked across the street for us. During a rain storm they were nice enough to bring the car right by the overhead awning so that the kids and I wouldn’t get wet. Now that’s service folks! Mind you we didn’t need the car to explore the local area as everything was within walking distance. Old Falls Street was filled with food trucks, live music and an electric atmosphere during the weekend we visited and we loved the vibe. Yes you can hear the music from our room at the hotel, but that didn’t bother us one bit. The Niagara Falls Park is less than a 10 minute walk and we popped by Niagara Falls numerous times during our visit. You get soaked and it’s nice to be able to swing by the hotel to dry up before continuing the day’s adventures.

The Giacomo Hotel  has 39 rooms (some are suites!) of true elegance combined with exemplary service and to anyone visiting Niagara Falls, U.S.A I highly encourage checking out this hotel. Location and service cannot be beat and the extra touches, chic decor and friendly service sets them apart from most hotels. Yes, we’ll be back!

What a gorgeous view! We usually stay on the Canadian side when we go to Niagara Falls, but I would look into staying here if we ever decide to stay on the American side.

I’ve never seen a breakfast quite like that at a hotel. It must be quite an experience to be right there by the action.

WOW, what a view! I love the lights, so pretty! The elevator trick is interesting.. I wonder if it’s just a little quirk of theirs to be different? Either way, sounds like a fantastic hotel!

Usually a great view beats a pool by a mile when it comes to hotels–some places I go to, I pay entirely for the view alone! The Giacomo Hotel sounds like a great stay!

Oh my gosh – that view is phenomenal. We will be visiting the falls later this month. I wonder if I can talk my husband into making reservations for a night away from all the family?

Complimentary valet parking sounds awesome. It stinks when you have to walk a mile after a long drive.
