The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and my excuses for hibernating indoors and having the Little Monkey watch too many youtube videos has come to an end. We still manage to snooze in but we’re trying our best to explore the hidden parks and lounging spots in downtown Toronto. On Friday we visited the HTO Park for some sun and chilaxing. We discovered HTO Park last summer and this was our first trip back.
The place was bustling on Friday afternoon, clearly there are others like us who aren’t cooped up in corporate cells. From families to couples rollerblading hand in hand there was something for everyone. A stage with an enactment of Canadian History and some catchy tunes filled the background as people lounged around. There were bikini clad ladies sunbathing, old couples snoozing on the green grass and people exploring the many food stalls.
As for us, we found a little piece of Nova Scotia and hung out in that corner. Lobster rolls from the NSEatery coupled with blueberry lemonade and the best Sea Salt Apples in a Caramel sauce was our lunch. I licked that puppy clean. No shame really. The hubs hails from Nova Scotia but unfortunately this year we have no plans of heading home for a visit so this was a cute little way to celebrate Nova Scotia. This Taste of Nova Scotia has left Toronto but is making its way to Ottawa and London this week. Check out their website to follow them as they visit various Ontario towns this July. Sure it’s not cheap at Twelve dollars a Lobster roll (or $20 for the roll, lemonade and apples) but it’s a travelling Nova Scotian food truck filled with fresh succulent lobster meat. How can you say no to that?
From what I gathered there’s plenty of activities all summer long at HTO Park so I think it will be a great spot for us to hang out on play dates. Plenty of stuff to occupy all ages.
