What I love about TUM

A couple months back I wrote about my much anticipated visit to the Toronto Underground Market (TUM), you  can read it here. These good folks have teamed up with some notable players for a contest. The players : Uber (the fashionable cabbies  and the ONLY way to travel these days), Rock Lobster Food (they bring you the goodness that lobster is, trust me I married an east coaster and lived in Maine too..  I know what I’m talking about!) and Sullivan Bleeker (a self thought baking goddess). The contest : Tell them what we love about TUM and we could win a scrumptious Rock Lobster lunch followed by devilishly decadent Sullivan Bleeker desserts. Let’s not forget.. you get to roll to this exclusive lunch in the privacy of a clean (yes if you like B.O and cigarette smoke…this ain’t for you!), chauffeured fancypants set of wheels.

You know I’m on this. Life of maternity leave mom means I have time on my hands and am always up for something sinfully delicious. My foodie heart rejoices, my cultured taste buds salivate and my competitive streak itches for a win. Luckily for me this is an easy task, I only have to speak the truth.

TUM has brought a much needed service to Toronto that has many of us rejoicing. It has gathered many hidden talents this city has to offer and brings them under one roof for all us food geeks to enjoy. I love the fact that there’s a diverse cultural influence at the TUM events, you got  your Indian aunty making samosas along side some mean Greek meats and homemade Italian meatballs (just like your nona makes ’em!). I for one know that I would not have discovered the treasure that is Rock Lobster Food and Sullivan  Bleeker on my own. Let’s not forget the succulent beef sliders from West Side Beef, the fantastic jalapeño cornbread grilled cheese and tender water buffalo empanadas from Comida del Peublo or the very odd chicken and waffles from the Royal Tree Beaver! Another thing I absolutely love about TUM is their use of social media, these peeps and  their friends are ACTIVE! They engage us fans and have their finger on the pulse. No wonder they always have some good hearted volunteers who spend the evening cleaning up after slobs like us and ensuring that we have the best experience ever. TUM knows what our stomachs desire before we do and their events are the perfect night out! A night filled with comrades, lip smacking goodies and some thirst quenching bevvys. And now I’m hungry…
