Some might recall that when I met with a lactation consultant over four years ago, she handed me an Avent baby bottle and there’s been no turning back ever since. Baby Boy received a couple new bottles but most were hand me downs from Little Monkey and while we’ve experimented with other baby bottles over the last four and a half years, we keep coming back to the Avent Classic. Both kids loved that more than any other bottle and so when we received the new and improved Philips Avent Classic+ Baby Bottle for a test run, I was happy to replace some of the older ones! Oh and we also have a bunch to share with our readers so enter to win 1 of 40 three packs of the Avent Classic+ Baby Bottles!
Disclosure: I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Philips Avent and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog, as always, are totally mine!
Baby Boy is really at an age where he should be getting off the bottle but just as with Little Monkey’s journey, I am waiting for his clues. We’ve introduced the sippy cups but he keeps asking for the bottle when it comes to his three milk sessions. If we don’t give him his Avent bottles, there’s hell to hear. Complete with stomps, screams and flailing arms. He even assembled the pieces himself and hands it to us!
So the bottle is still here at our house even though he’s getting close to the 2.5 year mark and Little Monkey was off the bottle at his age. The original recommendation to use the Avent bottles came my way because the lactation consultant at the clinic had highlighted that the bottle would be the best for switching between breastfeeding and pumped milk bottles. She had also highlighted that the Avent classic bottle was known to reduce colic and fussiness in babies and sure enough, we encountered no issues when it came to our bottle feeding routine. Unlike other bottles, the clinically proven anti-colic system is now integrated into the nipple of the Classic+ Baby Bottle. As your baby feeds, the unique valve on the nipple opens to allow air into the bottle instead of your baby’s tummy.
The main difference I see between the Classic and Classic+ Baby Bottle is that now there’s 4 parts instead of 5 and that’s a huge relief. The older bottles had an extra ring that was required and I lost them on numerous occasions. We travel with these bottles and many a hotel room has been graced by the tiny blue and white rings I’ve lost in the ice buckets and make shift drying spots. No more lost rings to worry about! The new Classic+ bottle is designed to prevent leakage whilst feeding and not only is it BPA free, it also has a wide bottle neck with rounded corners which makes it easy to clean quickly and thoroughly.
Another feature I’m loving is that the Avent Classic+ bottle is compatible with most of the Philips Avent range (though it is recommended that we use the Classic+ bottle with Classic+ teats only). What this means is that I can slowly switch Baby Boy fully towards the sippy cup by slowly mixing in the different handles and parts. If I were still pumping, I could have pumped straight into the bottle (which I managed to do with my old pump utilizing some Macgyver moves). Look how comfortable Baby Boy is with his new bottle – just needs one hand to enjoy his favourite drink!
Avent produces the best baby bottles when it comes to my family and we’re thrilled to be giving away 1 of 40 Philips Avent Classic+ Bottles (they’re 3 packs so you’ll have three bottles to enjoy!). They’re also the large 9 oz bottles because as your baby turns into a toddler, they turn into milk guzzling fiends who need the larger bottles.
Good luck!
Maria
