Delicious Gifts for Dad | Giveaway

As we gear up for Father’s Day I thought I’d share some of the fun ways we’re planning to celebrate Chris this year. To be honest, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day aren’t all that HUGE at our place. However, we have always surrounded ourselves with Father’s Day gifts that revolve around food and drink. Our go-to celebration usually involves going to a restaurant and reading the funny cards the kids gift us. However, with us living the pandemic life here in Toronto, we’re going to bring the food and drink home to Chris this year. If you’re looking to celebrate dear dad or any dad figure in your life, perhaps you’d like to enter for a chance to win our prize pack of Diplomático Rum goodies and a Keg gift card? Read on if you’d like to learn more!

Delight the Taste Buds with these Gifts for Dad!

Let Dad Unwind with Diplomático Rum this Father’s Day

Chris and I first enjoyed a taste of Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva when we were isolating in Nova Scotia. This fabulous Venezuelan dark rum is one that quickly won us over. It was the perfect sipper for those cold winter nights. As we came out of isolation and moved in with Chris’ parents, his dad was quick to pour himself a dram or two each night. Needless to say, we’ve since introduced this pot still distilled rum to my dad and brother as well. Our families are huge fans of the Reserva Exclusiva and one reason is that it really reminds us of the Scotch we all love so much. Earlier this month I learned that this rum is matured in whiskey barrels so the connection makes sense in hindsight.

This Father’s Day, there’s no going wrong if you gift a bottle of Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva to a father figure who enjoys his alcohol. This bottle of rum is distilled from molasses in a copper pot still before it’s aged for up to 12 years. The result is a rich, sweet and fruity liquid that has a beautiful finish. It’s no wonder that  Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva is one of the most awarded rums, with more than 20 awards to its name.

Diplomático Cocktail with lime

This rum is often enjoyed neat by Chris and our dads, but it does work well in classic spirit-forward cocktails as well. We plan to make Airmail cocktails this Father’s Day and so I thought I’d share that recipe with you. This refreshing cocktail was invented in the 1930s and the Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva works beautifully alongside the complexities of honey, lime and sparkling wine ( I personally like it best with Prosecco but any sparkling wine can be used). Looking for a cocktail to kick off summer and celebrate dear dad? This is it!

Grill His Favourite Steak as his Father’s Day Gift

Takeout container with steak and lobster and hand holding cover

The Keg has been a go-to option during previous Father’s Day celebrations because my dad is a huge fan. This year, although patios are open, our family has opted for an outdoor gathering where we can gather as a group of 10. Luckily we can still enjoy the deliciousness on offer at The Keg! If you’re looking for a gift for dad, this is definitely a worthy experience.

The Keg will be offering the following from June 19th – 20th:

  • 3-course dinner including a Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon or New York Striploin with a Lobster Tail and choice of accompaniment and Billy Miner Pie for dessert. These are available at all locations that are open for dine-in in some capacity. The same 3-course meal will be offered for takeout at most locations as well.
  • Rib Steak Celebration Kit, which includes two 20oz Rib Steaks and all the ingredients you need to prepare and enjoy a 3-course Keg classic dinner at home can also be purchased for pick up.
  • Take home cocktails to celebrate dad

We’ve tried their Celebration Kits a couple times this past year and have nothing but rave reviews from each family member. If you’re looking to grill up some steaks, The Keg makes it easy for us to look like pros! Of course, you can easily leave it completely up to them and pick up a 3 course meal that’s already cooked for you!
