Easy Holiday Bites #InsideOutPoutine

Poutine bites, st-hubertWe had a busy weekend but it was also a super relaxing one because the hubs and I escaped from the kids and spent a glorious night at the Delta Toronto. We returned from our night away feeling uber relaxed, a bit lazy  and craving some cuddle time with Baby Boy and Little Monkey. We finally had our tree up and I wanted to spend time together relaxing versus trying to discover my lost cooking mojo!!

So what did we do on Sunday evening? Why, we turned on the twinkly lights and I enlisted the help of Little Monkey and the hubs. The hubs made his famous chilli for us and Little Monkey helped me bake some St. Hubert Poutine Bites. Did I just hear you say “The WHAT?”. Yes!! Poutine bites… delicious little balls of ooey gooeyness you can pop right into your mouth. All of the taste with none of the mess!

20151207_182713 (Custom)St-Hubert has just launched their creative take on Canada’s national dish – poutine bites. Poutine and appetizer have collided to create these bite sized delights which feature a crispy potato coating with real mozzarella and cheddar cheese plus St-Hubert’s famous poutine sauce wrapped inside. I love my butter chicken Poutine but these mess free Poutine bites were not only MUCH easier to make (bake in the oven for 7 minutes!!) but they were also devoured by the kids (not something that happens with my Butter Chicken version). Little Monkey insisted that I save some for her school lunch! That’s a win! Given that I’m a sauce fanatic, I could have used a bit more gravy in the Poutine Bites but serving them along side some Sriracha sauce made it a satisfying dish.

Tapas is one of my favourite ways to entertain as I’m ALL about the finger food and the St-Hubert Poutine Bites will be sure to grace many of our gatherings. Chilli and Poutine Balls has Sunday night football written all over it and while I’m most definitely not a fan of football, I do love the food that comes along. Last Christmas I was visiting the in laws in Nova Scotia and I discovered a cute little festive way to serve chilli and dip so this year I think I’m going to keep a couple things to entertain our guests that pop by unannounced. The St-Hubert Poutine Bites, Chips to serve with dips and some of my mom’s famous Sri Lankan rolls…all things I can easily pop in the oven as I run around trying to tidy the mess of a place we call home!!

Easy holiday entertaining

As we snuggled in front of our Christmas tree, with football on the tv and carols playing in the background (we have a deal with the hubs – he can watch the game but we get to choose the soundtrack!!), I couldn’t help but smile in glee… the holidays are here and I love the cozy feeling!

Are you a fan of Poutine? You can grab a box of Poutine Bites at your nearest Sobeys store or keep an eye out for the Poutine Bites food truck in Toronto!
