Travels and Music from the road in Ireland

I can’t believe we’ve been travelling in Ireland for a week now! We started our Irish excursion in Dublin and have now been on the road for 6 days exploring the various counties and town. Needless to say, music has been following us along. We’re here with family from Newfoundland so we knew music would be a focal point and no day goes by without the aunts starting up a tune just for jokes, or to entertain the Little Monkey. Craic is famous in Ireland and every place we’ve been to seems to boast nightly entertainment acts which we have been more than happy to partake in. Here’s a couple of videos to showcase some of our craic sightings!

Blarney

The Blarney Castle Hotel was in full celebration mode having won an important (and near impossible) Hurley match so things were in full swing. Uur entertainer that night had a potty mouth and had us in stitches!

Dingle

We were staying at the kid friendly Dingle Skellig Hotel and the Little Monkey loved the slow tunes whilst we had a late dinner our first night in. Our second night we were serenaded by 3 tweens who put on a pretty good show ( I didn’t catch them on video due to privacy issues – didn’t want their parents maad at me!)

Doolin

This was a great raw experience as it was typical of what we expected, a random group of guys with an apprentice around a table in a pub. Unfoturnately they started pretty late (nearly 10 p.m.) which meant that the Little Monkey was well tired after a long day of driving from Dingle to Doolin with plenty of stops inbetween. Glad we caught an act and that we were allowed to partake despite the apparent 9 p.m kids curfew (no one has seemed to adhere to that outside of Dublin luckily!)

Hope you enjoyed the tunes…. we’ll be catching more tunes as we venture back to Dublin to spend our last few days in the Emerald Isle.

fun music I have never traveled with young children. Too bad the video turned out a bit dark, maybe that’s what pubs are like there.
