Guest blogging

As many of you know, I am fairly new to the blogging scene. Having spent the last few years working for big name brands and being passionate about social media I was well versed on the ins and outs of the blogging  world. However, having followed some great bloggers who put out thought provoking and/or helpful content for their readers, it seemed daunting and like a lot of hard work (which it is!). I think it was the daunting aspect that challenged me to start blogging at the start of my maternity leave. That and the fact that we were up to all sorts of random things with the new bubba (much to many of our friends’ surprise and awe) and I wanted to share our learnings with those who are interested about continuing the pre-baby lifestyle with a baby on the hip.

Quite a lot has happened with the blog over the past nine months and our trips to 10 different cities in 5 countries and our love for food, beer and cocktails has definitely fuelled the topics for the blog. One question I get asked often is.. “how did you  get people to read”. And the answer is..I  just share  good content with helpful information with my network and they seem to do the rest for me. My network comprised of people I had met having lived in over 8 countries during my 30 odd years on earth  but since becoming active on social media (and not just a passive observer with branding goggles on) my network now comprises fun, engaging and passionate strangers tweeps friends with whom I  converse on a daily basis.

Through these  friendships I have been asked to guest blog and this is something I would highly recommend to anyone new to the blogging circuit (no most often you don’t get paid for it). If you find the  opportunity to share your stories with a new set of readers who would appreciate what you talk about, DO IT! My main goal for doing this isn’t to recruit readers but to make new connections, learn and share.

Nugglemama

I remember my first invitation from Nugglemamma’s Handful, I was so thrilled and absolutely shocked that this stranger would welcome me on her home turf…I have since learned that this lady is a gem of a person with creative ideas, a household that is always on the  go and a dedicated friend, mom, daughter and wife. Stop by her blog for all sorts of fun giveaways, passionate discussions about brand she loves and for a quick snuggle. She loves to showcase Canadian talent and had some fun questions she threw my way … you can read about it here.

Next up through the powers of social media I was invited to attend the launch of Masalamommas, some of you  might recall that I believe them to be a great resource to South Asian moms from all over the globe. Curl up with your chai for a good read about style, food, relationship woes, and ofcourse juggling the issues that seems to arise in brown families more so than others!  The friendships cultivated through Masalmommas over the past few months continue to grow, along with the stories and misadventures and I hope to nurture these for years to come. You can find me guest blogging at Masalamommas ever so often (click here).

This brings me to my latest guest blogging opportunity over at My So Called Mommy Life, a blog that shares the trials and tribulations with a (now) toddler. Mostly you’ll find hilarious stories and lots of creative ideas to fill your child’s life with art, literature and educational toys.  You can find my post about our foodie adventures with the Little Monkey’s first foods here.

So what are you waiting for? Go  guest blog away! I’d love to feature you on Baby&Life (yes even if you don’t have  a blog!) if you’d like. Give me a shout!
