New Years Eve With Young Kids

netflix. new year with young kidsTomorrow is the last day of 2015 and what a year it has been! We’re back in the city and I have been seriously humming and hawing about how to ring in 2016. Growing up my parents would always come home for the midnight countdown with us before hopping back into whatever party they were at  (yes …odd practice!). The hubs and I, prior to having kids, would spend the 31st evening with my folks, playing games and then right after midnight we’d hop out to a party. Since having kids, we have hosted our own party so we could continue the shenanigans with the tots, however, this year I’m bringing back our previous practice. We plan to hang out, eat sushi and countdown with the kids and my parents before heading out to link up with friends.

Last year Little Monkey (who usually is happy to stay awake well past midnight) insisted that she was tired and wanted to go to bed (I woke her up at 11:55 p.m.!!). So this year we have a secret weapon on our side…with 96% of Canadian parents planning to spend new year’s eve at home with the kids, Netflix is launching six on-demand countdown specials that parents can use to ring in the new year anytime! Kids choose how to celebrate with their favourite characters including: Puffin Rock, Care Bears & Cousins, Inspector Gadget, King Julien, and favorites from DreamWorks Animation like Mr. Peabody and Sherman and Project Mc2.

I can’t wait to stuff my face on sushi and enjoy a few cocktails….how will you be ringing in 2016?

As we bid 2015 adieu we shared our travels reflections and plans earlier this week but I also wanted to share some other parts of our lives with you…
